@Mary-Toth I have gone back and forth between cold press and hotpress papers, liking the first better for watercolor and the second better for the ink. Right now I'm mostly painting in a Pentalic Aqua Journal which might be kind of like the softpress paper you describe because it is coldpress but not as rough as Arches so it works better for the kind of line and wash I usually do.

I've used watercolor pencils but never inktense pencils. I looked them up and they look interesting -- I'll have to give them a try.

This is slightly random, but I'm taking a break from my children's book work and moving through the foundation courses, and am kind of speeding through the first one on colour. There was an exercise on colour harmony which involved colouring the teacher's work, which was a bit too boring for me, so I decided to do some rabbit studies that double as colour harmony exercises in preparation for next month's prompt. I realize I haven't tried rendering realistic fur digitally since I got back into doing art regularly so this was fun trying to figure out what brushes work.

They are very creatively named the "complementary hare", the "analogous bunny", and the "monochromatic rabbit" ๐Ÿ˜›

I have a whole list of character ideas around animals. This one was not the first Iโ€™ve drawn but it was the first idea at the top of my list. Theyโ€™re rough sketches, but I like it the way it is.

Thought of this. I think this would make a nice t-shirt design.

I'm glad we have June off from contest prep. This month has been nuts. I'm taking classes, doing crits, hosting family, traveling for a mural project, lining up freelance work, and trying to keep my head on straight.

Last week I got an unexpected sunny Sunday afternoon free in Brooklyn. I took myself for a sketch and wander around the Green Wood Cemetery, and discovered that digital plein aire paintings are a ton of fun. It's so much more intuitive for me to get value and color relationships right when I'm using a color picker instead of mixing gouache on a palette.

@Valerie-Light Yes David Hockney takes his I-Pad out for this kind of work. If you don't know him, he is really the longest living current British artist who has been famous since the 1960's. A great portrait and landscape artist and painter who uses colour beautifully.

@Asyas_illos I started following some digital plein air hashtags on Insta, including #warriorpainters, and it's so inspiring! Who cares if it's frowned upon, it's super portable and great practice!

@Valerie-Light Yes, being creative should never be frowned upon! At least artists are putting something positive into the world other than frowns! Ha ha.

@Asyas_illos not really frowned upon but it's hard to see the colours on your screen under the bright sunlight
