Thought of this. I think this would make a nice t-shirt design.

I'm glad we have June off from contest prep. This month has been nuts. I'm taking classes, doing crits, hosting family, traveling for a mural project, lining up freelance work, and trying to keep my head on straight.

Last week I got an unexpected sunny Sunday afternoon free in Brooklyn. I took myself for a sketch and wander around the Green Wood Cemetery, and discovered that digital plein aire paintings are a ton of fun. It's so much more intuitive for me to get value and color relationships right when I'm using a color picker instead of mixing gouache on a palette.

@Valerie-Light Yes David Hockney takes his I-Pad out for this kind of work. If you don't know him, he is really the longest living current British artist who has been famous since the 1960's. A great portrait and landscape artist and painter who uses colour beautifully.

@Asyas_illos I started following some digital plein air hashtags on Insta, including #warriorpainters, and it's so inspiring! Who cares if it's frowned upon, it's super portable and great practice!

@Valerie-Light Yes, being creative should never be frowned upon! At least artists are putting something positive into the world other than frowns! Ha ha.

@Asyas_illos not really frowned upon but it's hard to see the colours on your screen under the bright sunlight

@ArtMelC This is so true ๐Ÿคฃ.
@Asyas_illos This may really work! I had tried to go outside to paint but had this issue with my ipad so I had to stay close to a tree. An umbrella sounds like a good idea, but it may bother a bit because you usually use both hands to use the hand gestures on the ipad while you paint and it may make it lose the point of the iPad being "something portable to paint".
If somebody has figure out an idea to fix this and keep it "portable" please enlight me!

@HeatherB Congrats on a book deal! I love these little critters! When the project is complete, it would make a cute nursery poster/ print to sell if your contract allows.

Work's been a bit draining in the last couple months, but I found some time to do some fan art to relax.

@JQ Super Sculpey clay over a wire and armature. Mixed some craft sand and glued that and some rocks from the backyard onto the wooden base. And Garyโ€™s shell was taken from a beach centerpiece Iโ€™ve had around the house for years.
