This looks like a fun project! I love all the details you've added on her costume. They make the portrait interesting to look at. One think you might want to double check is the length and direction of her arm. I think her elbow would be lower down. I did a quick draw over to show you what I mean. I was just drawing with my mouse on my computer, so it's in no way 100% correct, but it should get you started! 1662405506153-firlong-resized.jpg

@Kori-Jensen love your color palette! Your character also is appealing -- appearing strong yet also possibly gentle and vulnerable. Very subtle yet excellent characterization.

As far as feedback, you may want to consider adjusting:

            1. Values. While your palette is great, adjusting the values might help your character read even better. Hope you don't mind that I took a screenshot. Here is your piece in black and white:
              draw over 0.jpg
Because your character's skin and hair is middle value, it could easily get lost. Here is an example of what it might look like with values adjusted: lightening and reducing the saturation of the background, and darkening her hair. Color and black & white are side by side:
              31ffe115-0bc5-4fab-a300-8d48e1f33a28-draw over values.jpg

            2. Anatomy & proportions. Even though this character isn't human, she does follow human proportions. In humans and most creatures, if you draw a line through the corners of the eyes, nose, and mouth, those lines are parallel. They are not quite parallel on this character, and it's throwing her facial proportions off. Here is a visual:
              333bda45-3cf6-4194-8a7d-198472053ef1-draw over 1.jpg
Her arm also appears as if the elbow is overextended. Getting the anatomy and proportions down will make this character feel even more alive.

Lastly, here is a visual of how making these small adjustments will change the piece.

Again, beautiful characterization. Love your linework. Looking forward to seeing where you decide to take it!

This piece brings me back to my days playing Baldur's Gate 2. Your pic reminds me of a certain pink hair thief/mage. I have a few suggestions; hope you don't mind the draw over.
                      suggestions.jpg

I would recommend redrawing the left arm, so it would frame the character, as shown. Having her hold onto the right side of the cape also drawers eyes to the potions, reminding people of her job class.

If you use Photoshop, I would recommend using warp on the texture for the shoulder guard. As it is, it is breaking the illusion of a curved form.

I meant to write this in your other post... I like your DnD work. Is it possible to combine your love of fantasy with children's books? There are a lot of kiddie books these days based on adult properties (Home Alone, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, X-Files, etc).

@willicreate hmmm I do agree some people find my work more attuned to the adult and youth groups but I feel there is a place for my work πŸ™‚ thank you
