Glowing wips:)

Think I’m done with this I went with no back arms cuz the silhouette was much clearer
-
@Asyas_illos I love it, the stuff that's hidden in the ground and especially the mysterious thing glowing that we can't see and everyone is curisously peaking at. It really draws me into the story.
I do get the feeling when I look at the kid to the right is toppeling over? His point of gravity seems over the edge and the spade he holds on to doesn't seem to be heavy enough to support the weight?
You are right about the silhouette, I would have probably picked the other one because my brain tells me it's more complete but the back arms are really not necessary. -
@Asyas_illos Nice! I like the final touches you made with the glow on their faces.
-
@Stephanie-H thank you

So here’s my second entry I’ve been jamming on. Trying to make it a bit Halloween-y Any thoughts on story composition etc? Can you tell she is sitting cross legged?I wasn’t sure about the teddy bear either. That small part circle has a jack o lantern that goes it, and a rug will go underneath. Think I’m going to just leave this a spot illustration.
-
Does the orange erased lines defining the girls hair and silhouette and bear look weird, because it’s not a solid silhouette?
-
@Asyas_illos amazing how quick you come up with these super cute new ideas! Maybe for story add a cooking pot as it she's going to make potions with the bear? For silhouette one unified darker shape makes a clearer shadow? I love the cat stretching half in and half out of the tent.

Here’s without the lines
I submitted this one didn’t want the guys getting hung up on those lines lol
-
@Chantal-Goetheer thanks for the feedback! The cauldron is a nice suggestion but I’m not sure I can fit in without muddying up the silhouettes.
-
I’ve been working on another glow illustration for awhile now and I’m looking for some feedback on composition and concept. It may hard to tell at this stage but basically these kids heard something at night and are checking it out when their candle goes out and the figure in the back will be a glowing ghostly apparition. Is it ok that I’ve cropped out their feet?
-
@Asyas_illos I love this, Asya, so moody and scary. I think your composition is really nice, and it utilises the space in a good way... I don't think cropping out feet is a bad thing for this, it would be dark anyway and the feet wouldn't be very visible regardless...
If you want to change it up, I was thinking that maybe moving the camera to be in front of them and bunching the kids closer to each other and to us, might make the mood even creepier... This would also place the threat in a looming position, which might make it feel more menacing... I did a quick reshuffle to show what I mean... I don't think that this composition is better, it's just different. I think the illo would turn out lovely either way, and I look forward to seeing it finished!
-
@Mia-Clarke thank you for the comp idea, and the feedback, I’ll keep that in mind
-
Forward progress

This post is deleted! -
I think I’m done with the kids now on to the ghost! I’m still open to feedback, but I don’t think I’ll be making any big changes at this point
-
A little bit more to go…
-
@Asyas_illos Ooo...I like how it turned out! Nice glow effect.
-
@Kim-Rosenlof thanks! I really am enjoying this one!
-
Does his expression look like he doesn’t know he’s the scary thing and is looking behind him like there’s something else to be scared of? Lol that was exhausting just writing it
-
Still not sure if the story is coming through… also do you think the background props are too distracting?
