Ok I’ve done it again folks another Kamari idea popped into my head just now, it’s not too creative a story and possibly a bit dark. What do you guys think? Sorry for the very rough sketch!

@Asyas_illos I really like this one! This one is definitely my favorite of your Kamari ideas so far. Don’t have much feedback at this point other than keeping going!

@Asyas_illos The stone works pretty good. I would personally prefer the walkboard (somehow imagining the story with that), it would make the picture too busy though... but there is always way how to cheat with background and placing objects in the shadow or light. Something like this for instance:

Thank you for the feedback @marek-halko your simplicity never ceases to amaze me! You seriously have a gift, it seems to come so naturally for you. You are the epitome of work smarter not harder. Have you published anything yet? I will buy it no joke.

Think I’m set on this color comp, I want it very green to represent the energy of life and nature.

@marek-halko Wow, the swell of the water is such an interesting design idea, and really adds to the tension of the piece, too!

@Asyas_illos I love how this has developed! It looks great. The seagulls addition is adorable.

Just one thing - the large dark dog’s back is creating a tangent with the white dog’s mouth, so it would be good to move it forward a little.

It’s really ok either way, but I prefer it with 3 dogs (small, medium, & large - without the tiny one). I think the dark tiny dog pulls attention back to that side of the page & away from the action.

Regarding the fishing line, you could take it out altogether. It would simplify the image, and since he has a big net, it looks like he could just be fishing that way. I don’t think you can get hauls like that using a rod. (But I don’t even eat fish, let alone catch them!)

Oh, & you can draw really cute fish, too - just like @marek-halko ! 😁

So I just had brain fart of a whole day yesterday starting with a panic attack fueled morning, and when I was sketching this last night and picking colors I was working on the same layers and it was looking very painterly like my old stuff and completely strayed from how I’ve been working recently. I don’t know what happened but I am really loving it I just hope it still looks somewhat like my style just with bit of a rendering difference? I don’t know what I’m getting at yesterday was just an off day but ended with good artistic choices?

Anyway….. I’m still working on the same layer with the exception of the weasel which I wanted to ask if it draws too much attention I will do a dark greenish blue wash over once it’s done, just blocked in right now.

                          Thanks guys

@Asyas_illos I didn't see the wall vs. wooden pier posts earlier. I like the stone wall.

For the piece with the ghost:
It took me a second to realize it's her own bones.

Lightening the weasel was a good choice. I don't think it's distracting. But it is bothering me a little that the ghost kind of comes out of its head. Maybe you could try moving the weasel up or down the slope a little bit.

What's distracting for me is: Why are the bones only partially buried? But I guess that could be part of the story. Maybe she died there, and it got partially covered / scattered over time.

@Asyas_illos I really like how she seems to be watering herself and the tree growing from the body. Like the green colours with some red. i wonder if the Robin won't attract too much attention with it's colouring. The background might be darker to give more contrast with the ghost? I like the Wessel looking in, but indeed maybe putting it more up? How many have you made this slowember? 😂 Kamari sure has a slow start but brings lots of inspiration in the end, lol.

@Miriam yes it’s not a grave it’s where she died and the now the forest is sort of reclaiming them? New life springing from her bones, it’s not an immediate new beginning hope that doesn’t make a difference in the judging.

@Asyas_illos I feel like the most recognizable thing in your style is the way the characters look, so even if you make a more painterly piece, it will still be easy to tell it's yours 🙂
And I really like this painterly one! A bit dark, but personally I love that 😊
Good decision to cut the weasel in my opinion.

And I agree with @Chantal-Goetheer this Kamari prompt indeed has a slow start, not much happening in it's forum thread even now! So I wonder if everyone will post there suddenly on the last day? I guess it means it's a tricky one 😃

@Asyas_illos Oh, I liked the weasel (just not where it lined up). I also liked the bottom of the ghost going to a wispy point in the previous version.

I like the details you are adding. It's fun to see you experiment with doing something a little different. Both styles look good, and I agree with @mzameckaart that this is still recognizable as your style. It seems like a variation on what you usually do. Keep going with it. I think it will turn out great!
