SVS Virtual Studio MARCH 2023

@Mimi-Simon Oh, Trina Schart Hymann is my idol!!! I used to draw faces like hers in high school, and in fact, I used to be an oil portraitist. But an oil portraitist does not an illustrator make, everyone kept telling me my style was nostalgic, and I perceived this to mean my style was out of date.
Thus this is sort of an experimental period in which I am trying to figure out how to work faster, concentrate more on story, and update my style, which in turn may lead to consistency problems. I'll take this feedback into consideration as I keep working it out. Thank you!

@LauraA this make a lot of sense. Inconstancy in style means you are growing and learning new things. I'm definitely looking forward to where your'e headed.
-
@Blitz55 Dude your style is great. I love it.
-
@Tom-Harshberger Thanks man, I really appreciate that.
-
@LauraA I love this!!! They have a slight Arthur Rackham vibe, which I really like.
I might agree with @Mimi-Simon on just two expressions: the one where Hansel turns to Gretel outside the candy house and MAYBE the witch’s expression when she is swooping in. Since they’re larger, or more close-up, I think I expect to see just a touch more detail as compared to the faces that are further away or smaller. For the witch specifically, maybe I’d expect to see more delicate linework or wrinkles, but honestly, it’s just the one expression of Hansel that I might hone a little more. It looks a little more 2-d compared to the others. I think all the other expressions and gestures work really well.

@AngelinaKizz Super interesting, looks like it would have taken a long time to complete, fantastic!
-
@LauraA These came out so great. I remember seeing you work through the sketch phase and you should be proud. Lovely palette as well.

So I accepted the challenge put out by Angelinakizz last month and struggled with this one. I just got an iPad pro and this my first illustration using procreate. I know photoshop but there’s a definite learning curve. Anyhoo, lots of room for improvement but a good learning experience and keeps me drawing!
Prompt was “ as she entered the store, Melissa realized that this was not going to be a normal shopping trip”

@Kristen-Lango Thank you! And you speak Italian!
