Thanks everyone! Here's a full size mock-up to make sure I like it before working on the drawing.Foliage_Robot1.jpg

Alright, here's a WIP of the image. I went back and forth and whether I wanted to do a more drawing focused piece or painting. In the end I decided on painting, I felt like the little girl was hard to read as line since she's pretty small.
I'm having a lot of fun with this piece. I really want to finish it this weekend, but Illl admit my painting skills are rusty so it's been slow going. Foliage_Robot4.jpg

@Shannon-Perkins This is a really strong piece. The composition/value flows so well; you've established a fore/middle/background that feels really believable. And your Astrid is so sweet. Can't wait to see the finished piece.

@Shannon-Perkins Your finished piece looks wonderful! The shading is smooth and fits the scenery. Great job!
I see a white line...Is this a harsh rim light behind the figure and grass? (Please correct me, if I misinterpret it) IMO there should be some more white spots near Astrid's shoes and on the leaves of grass, if bright sunlight shines through the trees on the valley.

Thanks everyone! I'm glad people like my illustration.

@Fabienne thank you. You're right that there is a rim light in there. The lighting wasn't meant to be too harsh, but I added in the rim light to help separate the characters from the background. I see what you're saying that it's confusing what type of lighting it is, I'm going to go back in to make it more clear (and fix a few tangents). Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it!

Nice piece mate. It's great seeing the WIP too - from loose to tight.
