Hello!

@juleesa I'M NOT NO LIMBURGER! Yay, B-52's!
Welcome to the forum! I checked out your stuff. LOVE!! The illustrations are great and the comics made me laugh.
As far as the courses go, I've learned a ton from the few that I've completed. I definitely recommend the subscription. SVS has helped me in so many ways. I am FINALLY going to learn this digital thing, ha! I've improved my drawing skills and am working on my process, especially with composition, and also idea generation and thinking outside the box to come up with fresh and unexpected ideas and solutions in my art. There's a lot I'm working on and a lot more I want to work on.
(and if you illustrate more from "Dance This Mess Around," please post it!!) -
@juleesa welcome to the forums! I see you are from Chicago, there are a few of us on here from the Chicago area. I have not listened to the latest podcast and thats funny they talk about illustrating a song because I was just talking about doing that.

@Juleesa Hey! Welcome! I'm new too (and the leg shaving comic on your website is totally me too) hahaha
-
@Eli thanks! And thank you for letting me know about the classes- composition is something I really need to work on also. Thank you for the feedback!

@chip-valecek thanks, yeah it was an interesting idea, fun to think about

Welcome! Your artwork is fantastic! There is a really nice variety of classes on SVS. I would highly recommend a subscription, you can't beat the info for the price. Out of the basic art classes I really loved "Creative Composition," and the one on Visual Storytelling. But I think the most unique are the classes that help the business side, things such as "How to make money in illustration," or "All about Agents" for example. There are even classes on different paths such as licensing your work, editorial illustration, how to draw comics etc. I haven't tried the live classes yet because there is so much information with the subscription. I have been very pleasantly surprised.

Hi @Juleesa and welcome to the forums. I think that as the courses on svs are geared towards children's illustration, they are a great resource and will help guide your work to be suitable for the illustration market no matter your style (Will, Jake and Lee, along with a bunch of other amazing illustrators all contribute to various courses).
You have some nice work in your portfolio, but one thing I am noticing is that there is too much variety in your illustration style. If I saw these images in a google search I might guess that they were made by 6 or more different artists, just on the illustration page alone. It's nice to show you can do different styles, but it's best to be the master of 1 or 2 rather than trying to be the best in such a large range of styles.
btw, loving the cardboard pirate ship

@juliepeelart I really want to thank you for your response. This was from a while back- I was new to this forum and didnโt know I had responses... But I finally signed up for the subscription and I will look into the classes you recommended. Thank you again for the response and advice!

@Gary-Wilkinson Hello, thank you for your response! I know this was from a while back, I didnโt realize I had responses... I just want to thank you for your feedback and I completely agree about the style issue- something Iโm still trying to work on. Your portfolio is so cohesive- I see how important this is. I finally signed up for svs, hopefully itโs something I can improve on. Thank you again for your response and advice.
