Hello...
-
@Kris Hello and welcome
Question: What is a lapsed freelance animator (CG).... mainly the lapsed part.
-
@Heather-Boyd Oh, hiii!
Right, sorry, haha. Lapsed as in like lapsed (Insert religion here) 'cause animation was lifeAs in I'm not actually freelancing in it anymore cause I ran out of work in my city and can't move right now.
(CG) as in puppet rigged computer animation. Like pixar stuff...but cheap...and at a fraction of the skill level... -
@Kris hah! Definitely make it easier to get in
Let me know if I can help with the comic stuff. That's old hat for me, this kids illustration gig is new, but man I'm loving it lol
-
@Aaron-Pierce
Tell me about it, haha. Fun but challenging. I'm finding it a real struggle to keep my kid's stuff 'kiddy' but not too saccharine.
I suppose there's a line to walk there. I'm interested in comics work for my spare time but I think I'm more likely to find work as an illustrator if I can get my chops up...probably best to focus on that for now. :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_cold_sweat: -
Welcome! Love your entrance.
-
@burvantill
Hey, thanks! Tell me about your project, do you have a WIP thread somewhere?Haha, yeah. Enter loud to get the attention....then awkwardness 'cause I don't know what to do with it...:smiling_face_with_open_mouth_cold_sweat:
I thought it was fairly authentic introduction... -
@Kris Project? More like projects. Lol. I have several things going at once, but I've only posted one I'm working on with @kaitlinmakes because its the furthest along. Check out the posts Collaboration!!! and Requesting a second set of eyes on my collaboration
I am getting ready for the SCWBI NorCal Spring Conference, working on some new portfolio pieces. And a paying project that is completely inappropriate for children so I can't use it for my portfolio, lol. -
@Kris same here! lol Well, welcome aboard, for sure
Looking forward to seeing what you put out
-
@Kris Hi
Enjoy the forum!
-
@burvantill
Yeah okay, "project" singular probably shouldn't exist in the English language. I like the elephant one, looks like you're really making progress. SCWBI NorCal Spring Conference sounds fun. I think there's a branch down this way I should look into it. "paying project that is completely inappropriate for children" sounds mysterious :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_cold_sweat: . Gotta love that art for hire shtick. -
@Aaron-Pierce
Cheers, I'm hoping to kick around a bit before I put out much, especially in a forum. I've got a few projects on the boil though, stay tuned. :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_cold_sweat: -
@aska
Hey thanks, great to be here. It all looks like a bunch of fun. Are you working on anything? Apart from raising the next leonardo of course? -
@Kris ha, ha
My latest achievement would be a 4 square meter mural, which i painted in my house
Apart from that I got some projects, but unfortunately not related to children's illustration... One of them is a comic for about IT startup. I am still learning, so maybe one day I get to illustrate a cool children book
If you are interest you can check my mural here
https://mugaska.com/2018/12/19/potwor-szatniarz/I am looking forward to see your stuff!
-
@Kris what about you? Do you have any artsy things to show and tell?
-
@Kris Antique veneer is a neat way to put it
I'm 100% digital. It's all in corel painter.
-
@aska
Haha, monster in the closet. Love it. :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_smiling_eyes: -
@burvantill
I will have in a little while. I'm in a lull where I'm completely embarrassed by my old stuff but none of my new stuff is quite done.
Plus its a bit early for me to start throwing up WIPs on the forum :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_cold_sweat: -
@Braden-Hallett
Okay, so its like that digital, natural media brushes? Cool stuff. Reminds me a little of Steven Silver's Characters. :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_smiling_eyes:
