March Prompt "Book Cover"
-
@CobaB Hi, thanks for the feedback. I agree with almost everything you mentioned. On the link below you can see a little bit of my whole process...
https://forum.svslearn.com/topic/7202/art-book-cover-march-challenge-wip/22
Sadly, I only get to work on fun stuff and personal portfolio pieces on some weekends. Last weekend was one of those few weekends I had available to do the challenge and I won't have the time to address the issues you mentioned.
I appreciate your time and feedback is the only way I can grow as an artist. Hopefully we get to see you jump on this challenge as well.

@demotlj That is quite a compliment. Thank you!

"Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?"
First time making the deadline
Bought the kindle version after seeing this month's topic.
I don't think I've actually read any of Philip K. Dick's work.
I guess now's a good time to start going through it.
Looking forward to seeing everyone else's ideas!(updated image 3/20)

Hi everyone!
This is my second post and I havent introduced myself last time. My name is Irwan and I'm an IT Supporter at day and an Illustrator at night. Hopefully one day I will be a professional Illustrator, at least part time, currently I'm visiting the SKDZ Art School in Zรผrich, Switzerland and will finish my two year part time study of Illustration next month so I'm working on it:-)
I found this forum by luck. Can't remember what I was looking for but I'm glad I landed here. I thinks it's pretty cool to have a possibility to exchange with other fellows and to challenge oneself with this monthly prompt to try new things in new ways.
I did not expect to participate this month but today evening I was suddenly very motivated. This is what came out a couple hours later. Maybe I have to sleep on it for a night and then see it with a fresh view but I don't think I would be able to invest more time this month.
I took the Story of the three Little pigs. I thought every one knows about the story and if they see the wolf on the cover it's clear which book they are holding in their hands. And people who don't know the story may wonder where those three pigs are and what's up with that wolf too.Good luck everyone!

@Tyler-Hallstrom I am also working on a Lord of the Flies cause my oldest son is reading it right now in school. Maybe its an Illinois thing for kids to read LOL.
-
I went with The Little Mermaid but more the dark original story instead of the Disney-fied version we all know.
-
@Tyler-Hallstrom This is epic. What medium did you use?
-
@Chip-Valecek Very cool! You're right, must be an Illinois thing. I volunteered to teach it this year since our English Department is trying out a few new books.
-
@juliekitzes Why thank you! The original is a 20X30 acrylic painting on the brown backing part of a watercolor pad. I normally save those to cut, measure, or work on messy edges. This one had such an interesting texture from all of the cuts that I made, so I decided to paint over the top of it.
Once the painting was finished, I took a picture a picture and adjusted a few things in Photoshop. Made the red a little more red, added a few blurs, and then added the typography. I would say it's about 95% acrylic and 5% digital.
Glad you liked it!

Here's my middle grade take on the Wizard of Oz.

Another mermaid! In the original story, the mermaid is rejected by the man she loves and she suffers from her legs. She tries to sooth the pain in the ocean and cries and turns into foam...

@josegalue25 Hey yeah sorry I probably shouldn't comment if I'm not participating! haha. I just joined so the challenge caught me off guard a bit. Will look out for future challenges though. Yeah, I feel you on the time issue. Sorry again! All the best on the competition though, it's a cool cover.

-
@inkandspatter Thank you so much.
-
I decided to do an old Grimmโs Brothers story because Iโve been practicing my pen and ink skills and my style seemed to fit with those better. This was done with a pen nib the colored digitally.

@Dima-Eichhorn
