Process on work for my portfolio (ongoing)

Hi @MichaelaH! This is really adorable; I love the idea. I think both thumbnail ideas are great, but I voted for the zoomed in version for these fun illustration possibilities:
- All the great gestures and expressions on the kids and on the little monsters that we'll only get to appreciate in close-up
- Very different in composition from what we might normally see, where Godzilla is seen in full in the city.
Super cute. I want to see your progress on this as it happens, hehe.
-
Nice concept! I really like the idea!
Here's what I think - I'd go for the zoomed one, mainly because it allows you to pay more attention to the creatures that actually challenge Godzilla, instead of Godzilla itself.
Full image will make Zilla the main hero, while zoomed focuses more on the kids. I kinda feel that suits this months theme a bit more! It's also funnier! There is much more to play with there. Some design relation between all of the kids, expressions the kids and people make. Generally, much more potential to do something fun.
Of course that is my way of thinking, you are free to think differently!

@animatosoor @IgorWoznicki Thank You both, yeah I know, I can do much more on the second ZOOM picture, with the bus and the monster themself and also as Igor said, that in the FULL picture, the godzilla is more the main character, but the little monsters should be the heros
-
Well, good luck with your entry then!
Can't wait to see the finished piece -
Still not finished, I want to draw one more little monster and the bus ppl, but now I am too sleepy...
-
@MichaelaH The drawing looks great! The little monster biting Godzilla's tail is so adorable. XD
-
Zoomed in was definitly the right choice! I also like that Godzilla is only implied, it lends a bit of mystery to the image. we can only guess at it being Godzilla and that makes it much less lazy I like the drawing so far!
One point of feedback, if it might help:
Im wondering if instead of being flat on, the bus could be slightly slanted towards the viewer as if it came to an abrupt stop. It feels weird to me to have this really straight side-on view - we'd have to be so perfectly positioned, and where the babies are so dynamic, the bus is suddenly just very boxy. -
@Nathalie-Kranich Great point, thank You, I also thought of it, but let it be, but I think it will be better to make this more side/front view of the bus.
-
So only the bus ppl are missing...
-
@MichaelaH I love the improvements! Can't wait to see all the kids in the bus, haha.
-
@MichaelaH fun concept! I'd suggest making the tail even bigger & broader for a greater size comparison & the expressing the feeling of what a challenge it is to deal with a Godzilla.
-
@animatosoor some huge fun expressions on the kids faces would be great!
-
@theprairiefox Exactly!
-
Not to derail anything or be a buzzkill, but I think the topic is a about a single character (challenger) but I could be wrong. Could you combine the 3 into one maybe?
It would be great if @Jake-Parker could clarify if it has to be a single character.
All the best! It will be a fun illustration either way : )
-
@Darian Yeah I know , I don't think mine work will count, because it is "GODZILLAβS NEXT CHALLENGER" , I have 4 against one, but I like the concept, so don't want to change it. I will look into the tail, if I can make it bigger. Don't want to change so much, I have only 3 days and have a lot other work...
@animatosoor @theprairiefox yeah I will try some great expressions :face_with_stuck-out_tongue_closed_eyes:
-
I love the critter that is bending Zilla's toe back! ouch!
-
Thank You @CLCanadyArts
So i have the kids done. hope I can draw later today again.
-
@MichaelaH Is one of the kids taking a picture? This whole thing is seriously adorable, haha.
I'm also curious about what's happened to the bus driver? XD
-
What a great idea!
