Process on work for my portfolio (ongoing)

@MichaelaH Great piece. I still love that little toe breaker.
-

So I changed the title of this post so that I can post here my process on all my next projects. I was inspirated by @animatosoor thank You for showing me, how great it is to work hard on my portfolio.
So my next project is this bear taking bath and talking to a fish. I don't have text, so there is this text place holder.
Why bear, I am trying to do some promts from this challange and day one was my favorite animal, I like to draw almost all animals, so I set on bear.

@MichaelaH Wow, this is awesome! I can't wait to see the work you do for your portfolio. I'll be offering my support, no doubt.
This piece you've begun work on is really adorable, by the way. The expressions are great as usual, and I'm really enjoying the composition. Wonderful start!
-
@MichaelaH What if the fish is telling a joke to the bear, and that is the text? Something like: "... and then I told him I knew something fishy was going on, but he couldn't bear it anymore."
-
@Julike-Challenge Great Idea, are jokes copyrighted? Hmm If yes I have to thing of something Or do some story afterall
@animatosoor Thank You I am always doing big eyes, don't know if it is good, but I like them
-
Wow the characters faces are amazing, so much expression
-
Great work on the godzilla piece and love the new one you've started! Like everyone else says the expressions are awesome, and your linework is so confident it looks ace Definitely agree with @Julike-Challenge , it looks like the fish is telling a bad/cheesy joke - even the other fish in the pond are rolling their eyes like they've heard it all before
-
Thank You @hannahmccaffery and @AndyIllo. This is really funny, I also like the expression, but everytime I think of expression, I think back to lasts year's book fair in Germany. One editor said to to almost every my picture, to much expression...I laughted about it, because the only one picture she liked, had no expression at all...
-
@MichaelaH In fairness, an editor at a book fair probably knows a lot more than me. But do a quick image search of 'Zootopia' for example, and every single image is full of expression. I say if it fits the drawing, keep it up!
-
@MichaelaH Well I think you've got just the right amount of expression in this one
-
After last year I stayed true to myself, it wa sonly one of many editors and I think it is like it is, everybody has different things wihich we like. Thank You
-
@MichaelaH You can use the joke if you want if you really like it (I don't own humor anyway) and I think this joke has probably been made many times before
-
@Julike-Challenge Yeah this was more general question, if jokes are copyrighted...But I like Your joke.
I thought about doing story like the fish(main character) is going around and talking to lot of animals telling the same joke...Mabye one more underwater scene and one similar to bear scene.
Here my value studies
-
@MichaelaH These value studies look great! I feel like B would have the characters read most clearly against their background, since they would both be dark against the background which is lighter.

There is this instagram challange #childhoodweek from 7.-13.July (https://www.instagram.com/childhoodweekevent/ by Beatrice Blue) and I really wanted to do at least one promt, so today (ok saturday, now is already sunday here and i have to go sleep...)
So I did the first promt "Books", as I really liked to read, first books were about Mammoths, wolves, Indians.
I didn't do a value or color study, only teh sketch and goooo color.... -
@MichaelaH This is a beautiful piece!
-
@MichaelaH This is a really fun piece. I love how the girl is interacting with the mammoth and the wolf. The prompts sound lovely, too! Have fun taking part in the challenge.

After some days, again working on my fish and bear story. I decied to do only thumbnail values and thumbnail colors and after it I am drawing like usual, with colors on the big picture.
But one thing I found, I can have the same psd file open at the same time (window/arrange/new window "openfilename") and than I set this new window with the same psd file to greyscale (view/proof setup/ working grey or custom - working grey) and am drawing in the second file and see all changes in the grey psd file. So I can check/watch the values through the whole color painting process. -
Finished, water was difficult....
English is not my strength, so if the text needs some correction, I am open to any help.
