Just for giggles, this is what my daily sheet of lines look like right now. I'm hopin' to add some hatching exercises and more curves at the end of this week's lesson.

And here's what it started out as just under two years ago :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_cold_sweat:

I'll be interested to see what others do for their daily line sheets if they feel up for it ๐Ÿ™‚

So i was looking at so about 20 brushes from kyle in photoshop and I chose these 4. I never inked so who knows, but for the beginning, I will try them. The 2. and 3. are very similar, the 3. has some very fine watercolor edge when zoomed in.

@Braden-Hallett wow. You have a very good control on your line varience.
Both sheets look like done traditionally. You brush making skill is super too ๐Ÿ™‚

To make it a little more interesting I copied a random page from one of our old coloring books and filled in the spaces with my practice lines. This brought back some old memories of me trying to get the most out of my precious Pentel color pens. Instead of coloring in swaths and patches like the other kids I would draw one line after another as close together as I could without overlapping or making spaces. I was inadvertently teaching myself muscle control by being conservative. Lol.Those pens were a true treasure.

And it begins! I havenโ€™t really used my brush pens much since last yearโ€™s Inktober so this is a nice refresher. I also feel much more confident with the strokes already than I did last year which shows some of the other pen control work has carried over. Still lots to improve on though so this next 6 weeks should be awesome.

@Braden-Hallett you're always good to start a group class-along here. And I'm tempted. I've been over in a different forum taking a few classes this summer (comics/storywriting) but they're wrapping up. I've been working on a 3 page comic strip-and boy but my inking could use some assistance.

If I do-it will be digital, on my Procreate. As usual, I'm searching for the "right" brush.

I'm using The Fading Edge-from Georg's megapack. It doesn't have quite as much pressure sensitivity as I want so I'm playing with the settings.

I'd love to hear from other digital inkers--what you're finding to work well.

That's a really good idea! Cheap and easy to find and print out, too ๐Ÿ™‚

Wow, I am really shaky with a digital brush pen. I guess I really do need to practice. 7121f1a6-ae69-4fb5-9af4-cfb0f849b82b-image.png
I especially struggle with varying the weight of the line. Also, I did a self-portrait. (haha! I wish!)

Today was a Copic multiliner that I havenโ€™t had a chance to play around with yet. I plan to bounce back and forth between it and a couple brush pens I have to work on building proficiency with both.

@chrisaakins man, trying to play with line width in digital format for the first time or after a while off is super difficult. Thereโ€™s just such a different from traditional to digital eh?

Kind of meditative when doing this on paper. I have seen the inking videos before, but when re-watching it, I realized a lot of excises can be used to practice with other art supplies, like pencil for example. It is about getting better with drawing in general :-). I think 6B pencil in procreate is very suitable for most of the excises.
