FEBRUARY CONTEST: NIGHTFALL
-
Almost forgot the whole thing but here is my piece, thanks for the Instagram remainder, phew!
-
Here is my second submission. Not quite as polished as I had hoped, but time is up, and I don’t want to be late again this month. I hope you enjoy it.
-
@Michael-Haskew oooh this is pretty cool

Hi,
My name is Luke, i've been taking classes on the SVS website.
I am just learning my way around the system, but I find the student work really inspiring.
Thanks so much.
This is my submission for the February contest.
I am starting to build a children's book portfolio and I want this to be my official first image.
Any feedback would be appreciated. -
I love everyone's submissions!
What doesn't say Nightfall like glowing mushrooms surrounded by wolves?

Hey everyone! Here's my illustration for this months prompt. Good thing its leap year...I needed all 29 days.

I enjoyed this and it also drove me a bit crazy. Thank you so much for the critique along the way. Always making my image so much better when I share the process on the forum. Love seeing all the submissions. The variety is wild this month.
-
@xin-li I love this, Li! So many fun things to look at.
-
@AnnaDaviscourt I love these characters and how they seem to glow!

Well I could keep working on this forever but it's time to turn it in! Lovely work, everyone! This is supposed to be an editorial illustration for Popshot, a literary magazine, for something like a poem about how love turns your world upside down but you might not notice.
-
My favorite place to hang out at night. Brick Lane in London. Where Dr Jekyll buys his bagels.
-
@cszoltan this is so good! I love your style.

SVS skills used for this "Nightfall" illustration (don't really know all these skills well yet, so I'm still working on them):
- visual story telling
- all perspectives
- all colors
- gestures
- composition
- how to draw everything
and Lee White's how to create illustration YT session.
This illustration interprets "Nightfall" to mean overcoming sunset blues - that feeling of melancholy at nightfall even if the sunset is stunning, because so much to do and this day is now gone. But the falling night comes regardless and rest is in the end welcomed.
So many creative and different illustrations - it's now past 2AM and I'm still hooked on looking at them all! Enhorabuena!

Once again, it seems like the month has gotten away from me. This scene is an excerpt out of the Navajo tale of how the constellations and night sky came to be, and is really a great story. After the First Man and First Woman, among others, get through hand-setting all the constellations, a great Coyote grabs the blanket and creates the Milky Way!

Hello! My first ever post. Hope I'm doing this right. Here's my take. Amazing work by everyone!
-
I personified “Nightfall.”

Hi guys, a mountain of great pictures this month! here is my take on the topic.
