      Hi everyone,
Can anyone recommend some nice brushes for Procreate? Iโ€™m after something which gives more of an analogue effect. All suggestions welcome, thanks ๐Ÿ˜Š

Hi @Rachel-Horne, I recently purchased some MaxPacks brushes from Max Ulichney, but havenโ€™t really pushed the boundaries yet. Iโ€™ve been playing with them. Iโ€™ll do my May piece with the Max Pack brushes and weโ€™ll see how it turns out.

@Rachel-Horne I would also recommend the max pack brushes. I bought the watercolor set a month and a half ago and I love them.

Max Ulichney's Max Pack brushes are found here: https://www.maxpacks.art/ He developed a great set of Watercolor brushes that have rocked the Procreate world recently.

I've also found some Tip Top brushes to be good: https://tiptopbrushes.com/

However, my very favorite brushes come from a woman in Australia who goes by the moniker "Abbie Nurse". She also has some watercolor brushes that I personally find more useful than Max Ulichney's set, and she uses them in conjunction with some layer magic... She also makes video tutorials, too. She has brushes at her website here: https://www.uproot.shop/

Hello! I have an artist friend who made and now sells his brushes. He makes nice pocket money by selling them but once commented to me "it is not the brushes that make the art". Basically he thinks that people can achieve the same result than his with any standard brushes (that you find included with the software) if you put enough work into it.
I don't make digital art so I am ignorant whether it is true or not, but thought I could share it here before you buy too many brushes or an expensive set.

@Julia thanks for your reply and I actually agree with that to be honest but like you say I think this probably takes a lot of time to work out digitally and I'm a little bit lazy ๐Ÿ˜‰

@Kevin-Longueil Just discovered this thread while trying to get to know brushes on Procreate. Would you mind telling me which pack the Nikko pencil is in? I love the graphics on this site, but I doubt my work, which is fairly traditional, is going to veer off in a zine direction anytime soon ๐Ÿ˜‰

To everyone: Thanks for all the recommendations!

@LauraA This doesn't really answer the question but a company that is similar to True Grit is Retro Supply Co. While most of their stuff is for more vintage-flavored art, they have some very nice sets to mimic the styles of Golden Books in the 1960s and a gauche set. I really like the inking tools from their basic midcentury packs.

@LauraA Here is a link to where someone shared his favorite five Nikko Brushes. https://folio.procreate.art/discussions/10/28/22330 The pencil is in there i'm sure - Nikko is on gumroad but i could not find the pencil in the packs there - i got the pencil with one of his online art classes but i think he gives them away freely - here is another link of a bunch of procreate brush resources - Nikko is in there (probably the same five brushes though)and a bunch of others too https://www.creativebloq.com/features/best-procreate-brushes/2

@Kevin-Longueil Oh, I see! It's a completely different set. Thank you!

@akpcreates The mid-century packs sound interesting too. I'll check them out.
