I shelved my book cover project in March when Covid-19 hit, and when I opened it again 3 months later I didn't like it anymore. But 2021 is the book's 50th Anniversary so I wanted to make a possible cover to commemorate that! So I went back to the drawing board and came up with a fresh design:

I finished up this cover and I'm very pleased with how it turned out!

I even made a couple of interior illustrations too.

I'm glad I finished this! I wish there was a way to pitch it to whomever publishes this classic.

This is so cute! I love how you mocked it up and did a couple of interiors too. I feel that makes it an even stronger portfolio piece. Love the new design as well! Seems more balanced.

This is so awesome! Time and again I search for wonderfully simple and effective black and white interior illustrations that augment the page without being the central focal point. It's so hard to find online examples of spot illustration like you've done, as so many artists lean into the splashy full-page look for their portfolio sites. Thank-you so much for sharing those!! They're wonderful!

@Coreyartus I love this style too. And, actually, @Lee-White has illustrated a book like this. My daughter has it. It’s called, “I Lived on Butterfly Hill.” It’s a really pretty book. Also Chris Riddell’s illustrated version of “Neverwhere” has cool black and white pencil sketches throughout the whole thing... they are creepy, but I love it. ️
