Wow! Some really lovely works you got here! Very tight and detailed. I always love these architecture/environment drawings. I wish more people do this kind of more "classical" illustrations. I also love the studies you did in instagram. Not that many people are more interested in scenery/landscape, and I quite like the direction you are going. I especially love the textures on your traditional media paintings!

Anyways, welcome and make yourself at home 😃

Curious if anyone has experience using art storefronts for their shop/online art store? I’ve listened to their podcast and like what they have to say. I also know they’re selling their product at the same time as giving marketing advice. Curious if anyone would recommend them of have any experience with their product. Thanks.

Hello Tora and welcome to SVSLearn Forums. I haven’t been a teen for a long time, but use to hang in the same social circles <insert Steve Buscemi skater meme>.

You’ve likely already started doing your research about animation courses and how the Japanese industry is like, but I would like to drop a few helpful links:

YouTube: Animator Dormitory Channel Here you’ll receive a working Japanese Animator’s honest discussion about pay and work conditions.
    https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsLPWmJXcELI3QTuqzNqkVQ/videos

NHK World – 10 Years with Hayao Miyazaki A documentary that follows Miyazaki as his studio was creating Ponyo. He's is retired now, but the workplace culture he fostered must still be present.

YouTube: Software used in the Anime Industry

You may want to do research on the studios that are working on the latest animation series on Netflix, Hulu, etc. It may be easier to break into those places first. Also, Ghibli recently released their first fully CGI movie. Perhaps they need more 3D animators?

Lastly, LightBox Expo, an event for those who want to get into the animation and video game industries, is happening now, running to Sunday. Check it out. Some videos are being recorded and living on YouTube or Discord, free to watch.

Best of luck to your career. がんばって!

BTW, have you read or watched Beastars ? It’s Zootopia for an older audience.

@larry-whitler There's a story about the composer John Cage, that early in his career he was studying under the famous composer Schoenberg, he was late to a meeting and his mentor berated him saying he had no sense of time or melody for that matter." Fine " he said then my music will not be about time or melody. He went on of course to change music forever. I think there's a lesson there for all artist , find what you do well, usually that will be what you love to do,in the beginning copying other styles is a great way to learn but at some point you have to give up looking around trying to do what's in style , what's selling, and find your own voice. Each of use are unique, Chris

@Leontine Thanks! Yeah the highlights on the tree ended up a little too minty for me as well.
