This months been super busy for me & honestly I was feeling a little creatively drained. Do you ever get to points where you think you've completely run out of ideas and even though you try, nothing seems to work out the way you want? So long story short, I decided to give myself a little break and just try to "fill my creative bank" and @Jake-Parker would say. I looked and looked at all the wonderful art in my collection of books and online (I live in a rural area so no nearby museums or galleries). I went on long walks in the forest and after all that, it was actually 1 illustration by Edward Gorey that pulled me out of my hump, lol. So here is my newest little watercolor lady dressed in her cruelty free, live monster stole and Spring party attire :).

@Tiffany-Thomas Out of curiosity how long did it take you to complete this character? I'm always impressed with artists who continue to use traditional creation methods and you do it so well!

@Jeremiahbrown The watercolor portion for this one took about 5-6 hours, then the scanning, cleanup and digital touch-ups probably about another 1-2 hours. I can usually get the underpainting done quickly, less than an hour. Here's a pic of the underpainting. I think on the next one I may scan at this point and then finish it digitally and traditionally so I can compare the results. For me the advantage to working in watercolor is the quirkiness and imperfection that happens, digitally I have a habit of trying to over-render and control every little detail and digital paintings actually take me way longer because I get super indecisive, lol.
