My first mermay drawing. It was for May the 4th, so I used the chance to sneak in some star wars stuff (it's a lightsaber she's grasping at - I'm not sure how obvious that is). I have been doing the Painting Color and Light course, so I wanted to experiment with some interesting lighting. I intentionally kept the rest of the image very simple.

Another mermaid, this one staring at herself in the water. I never really ended up happy with the sky, but didn't want to fight with it anymore

@Judy-Elizabeth-Wilson really cool! A few years ago, I illustrated a picture book about a boy and his CIs! (A Deaf friend taught me ASL so it was a project very close to my heart.)

When your dog stares at your while you eat.
Whenever I think of mermaids, my mind instantly goes to those beautiful illustrations of perfectly curved body shapes and flowing hair and magical atmosphere. Oh how I wish I could create something like that one day. But for now, I think cute is what makes me happy
