This is probably my one and only effort at Inktober this year. I wanted to see if I could ink something as complex as a pine forest. Only after doing it did I think, β€œI should have put a character or something in here as a focal point.” Oh well. It was good practice.

This is my entry into this years KidLit411 contest. I flip flopped back and forth between two rough sketches and even had a poll on the forum to help me decide which one to develop. Then I drew another rough sketch and knew immediately that I loved it more than the original two. I'm very happy with how it turned out.

@aprilshin Thanks. It’s actually very meditative doing it.

It’s a wrap! The advantage of doing half an Inktober - finishing a day early… πŸ˜…

I started a new day job at the beginning of October, and the first project I was given to knock out was a hand illustrated/animated short video for an emergency physician conference in a rough sketch style (think Aha's "Take On Me" music video). It was a ton of work (basically 735 drawings in 10 work days), but I was able to mix it up and keep things interesting by cycling through drawing styles, speeds, and a couple brush settings. Here are a few screenshots, and I hope I can share the animation soon.

We had to say goodbye to a good girl. She was 17. She caught a lot of birds surprisingly. Even into her old age. She loved laying in the backyard next a honeysuckle that grows on part of our fence. RIP Mogwai
