May 2024 Submissions - How To Fix Your Art

Some people are doing some impressive heavy-hitting with detail! Nice work, @Jason-Crowley, @JennyWren and @Anke-Noack!

I wasn't sure what to do this month, so when in doubt...make it silly!
My natural way of drawing can often be quite stiff, and when it comes to rendering I always get lost making everything look "right". So recently I've been trying to loosen up and I hope it comes across like that, rather than sloppy. But one thing I've learnt is it's harder than it looks! My old style takes quite a while, so I challenged myself to do it in one sitting. That way I wasn't tempted into noodling with all the details.
Traditional ink drawing with digital colour in Ps.

@MarcRobinson this is great! Hilarious that "the body vanished" and its floating right above them, great work!

My submission for HTFYA for April, a lot of first for me with this submission. First submission, first time using a cintiq, first time using many of the techniques learned from watching many digital painting vids on SVS. Can't wait to get the feedback, whatever it may be, so I can start improving!

@MarcRobinson Loosening up is the hardest thing! I think you've pulled it off here.

@Jason-Crowley This is incredible!!!

@Jason-Crowley thank you mate. Yeah it was so difficult I'm afraid it'll never become natural to me.
-
@MarcRobinson haha, I am also working on a "detective story" take Love this, I started to look for clues

@scotthigginsart thank you! I'm glad the joke comes across. It's hard to tell sometimes!

After some indecision and some overwhelm, im glad i started early and went with something simple and fun for me -
I had several ideas but ended up with this one
Here's the resolution looking poor again before you download the image. If anyone has any advice on this, I'd appreciate it. Of course it is just in this forum but still...

Couldn't resist the sea lol. Thought this was a fun prompt so I had to give it a shot.

@Jason-Crowley
Winner, winner chicken dinner. Love everything about it! -
Couldn't resist this prompt - Iβve been really inspired to take part after seeing all the great work and really useful feedback over the last few months. I wanted to set my scene in a murky lake but maybe itβs gone a bit too murky?! Anyhoo, it was great fun to create and try my hand at some underwater lighting.

@ruth love the colours and the story telling

I let this one stew for a while, so I think I will call it done. Fun prompt and I got a whole graphic novel story brewing for these characters. Will hopefully circle back to them one day and expand on it.

@Joshua-Chennault love your final rendering and the color palette!
