As I am getting closer to doing the full Inktober challenge for the first time I wanted to pull together some inspiration and thought it would be great to get everybody's help too. What are some of your favorite inked illustrations? Are there any illustrators that you think use ink particularly well? Ready, go!

I posted this and then thought, who are my favorite artists who work in ink? ... and then drew a total blank for some reason. But then I remembered Yuko Shimuzu! She does awesome ink stuff, and a particularly admire how she doesn't draw everything out meticulously in pencil first--she does very loose scribble sketches of where stuff will be, and then does the real drawing with ink.

I really liked what Darwyn Cook did in his Parker graphic novels. (great comics btw :)) Love the movement and gestures in his artworks.

And this reminds me of Sean Phillips and his work on Criminal graphic novel.

And ofcourse Mike Mignola has quite unique approach to inking 🙂

And from old masters, Albrecht Dürer comes to my mind.

Another artist/writer to check out is Craig Thompson the author of Habibi and Blankets. Amazing work!
