Travel (WIP)

I like #1 the rounded forms and composition are really nice.
-
I gravitate to #2 right away, though #4 has an interesting composition and story. Suggest doing #2 for the contest and reserving #4 for a separate project.
-
I personally like the #4 most
the bug's expression and shape is hilarious
-
they are all great My favorites are 2 and 4
-
#1. I would like to see that cardboard train with cardboard wheels. Maybe have some crayon drawn images on the side...or maybe the wheels could look like they are drawn in crayon. I am just rambling here, but I like the potential of #1 a lot.
-
Look at you turning up the creative heat again this month! Man, these all have potential but I like #1 best. Can't wait to see which direction you go.
-
Thanks for all of your replies! I have almost finished no.2, but part way through I decided to change the concept, so I don't think it fits well with the travel theme anymore, but it felt more suited to change it for my portfolio.
I think I will go for 1 as it seems more "travel" themed and hope to get it done before the end of the contest!
-
So I'm probably not going to go with this piece for the competition as it changed to something that wasn't travel themed in the end, but I thought I would put it up just for show. Time to start no.2! @Eric-Castleman I like your idea of the wheels drawn in crown, that would look cool
-
Looks great!
-
I just LOVE this illustration!) Your style is brilliant!!!
-
@Spencer-Hale
@margarita-levina
Thank you I really appreciate itHoping to do a few more cardboard adventure illustrations soon
-
So I decided to go with the train idea and just started roughing in the colors. I'm planning to have different toys in each of the carriages as they travel on their cardboard adventures.
-
@gary-wilkinson I like the composition in this work, and the colors are very good) Looking forward to see the final result. Btw, are you working on the one layer?
-
@margarita-levina I usually make a quick grayscale painting to decide on the lighting, then do a multiply layer to add some colors and then paint in a normal layer over that. I usually stick to one layer when painting but make temporary layers just in case I mess up, but also to compare the changes.
-
@gary-wilkinson I love all your concepts! Very creative! I love the girl's expression on number 2 and I simply like the idea of her flying away from home. Sometimes, I also wanted to do that when I was a kid. I also love the train and the overall composition of image #1. I don't know if you can but I would love to see an amalgamation of both images. Lastly, the sugar dealer. I think it would be amazing if you can make a separate illustration of it. I think it would be a great portfolio piece. Great work!!!
-
@gary-wilkinson AMAZING!!!!!
-
NICE work! This is looking amazing.
-
Gary, do I see a cameo appearance of the bear and giraffe from your last piece? Really nice work, I'm really enjoying the paint like strokes that I'm seeing.
-
@gary-wilkinson wow I really like the colors and composition! it looks great! keep it forward
-
@artwithashley - you found the easter egg yay
I needed to bring them out of the trash and give them a new owner (damn kids with smartphones!)
@lenwen - thank you! I put the final piece on the contest page. Hope you like it
