I’ve been playing around with a part scribble, part crosshatch look. Trying to get a soft feel to it.

Sooo in an effort to shove myself completely out of my comfort zone ( which for me is away from people) I signed up for 2 classes at a local community arts organization. I attended my first ever life drawing class last night which was so incredibly intimidating cos everyone had clearly done it before. But by the end of the evening it was clear I was going to learn a lot! And I met some like minded people who were fun. 0_1538423945780_DB0F1CA9-F367-4E5D-A7E4-38207D12F0AE.jpeg

@missmushy You GO!! That's great. I hear you about the life drawing class--it is intimidating! I went to my first recently--and the model goes through these really fast poses and he switches after like a minute and I've drawn two lines!! NOOOOO slow down!! Ha ha!!

@eli right? I barely got a new sheet of paper ready and they were switching to the next thing. Not to mention the charcoal I got all over my face- not sure how that happened 🙄 looked like an extra from Mary Poppins 🤣

@missmushy I don't think you're really doing the class properly unless you are covered in charcoal.

@eli @MissMushy Speed drawing! We did those for our warm ups in school. About 10 1 minute poses. It definitely gets you out of your head because you have absolutely no time to think. Lol!

Had another artsy day with @kaitlinmakes today down by the river. We are practicing our plein air. This is a value study. I thought I would get better at value and then tackle color again. I have to say that I am using my son's old elementary school water color paint set, lol. I am currently making a travel watercolor kit out of an Altoid mint tin box and my GOOD paints. So next month my plein air will be a little less... well let of YIKES and more of OOH. LOL. =)x

@nyrrylcadiz I think I read that you can get a program to connect your iPad to your computer & use it to draw in Photoshop. So that might be an option for you. Sorry I don't know much about it--I don't have an iPad, but I'm thinking about buying one!

@tessaw I didn't see the labels for the emotions at first, so when I looked at the first image, I tried to think of what the emotion might be & I would have picked "anticipation", so you really nailed it! (I clued in by the time I saw the second image, so no uninformed guesses for those.) The others are really good, too.

@miriam yeah, i’ve heard about it too. However, i don’t have an apple laptop so i still can’t use photoshop with my ipad. It’s alright though. Procreate is more than enough ( when it comes to digital drawing/paiting that is). I’m still holding out hope that they add a text tool in procreate. Hehe

Had my draw date with @burvantill yesterday! I definitely tip my hat to plein air painters - it's a whole new rodeo.

Continuing life drawing classes but have so many questions and not really getting answers. Like is there a difference between line of action and gesture? If so what is it? Also is loa/gesture meant to be seen as the inner bone structure of the figure like the curve of the spine or ?? And how do you stop things from getting stiff once you start measuring proportions etc? so much to learn but I am enjoying the challenge. 1_1539628885770_BEFFFBBB-13D6-47C2-A4A9-774EF82460F3.jpeg 0_1539628885770_83E0F8A2-23FA-4EF7-B2DE-86303F2DDCD4.jpeg
