Hi this is my first time sharing on the forums, hoping to get some opinions on which idea to pursue. Thank you!

I'm drawn to the concept in 4 and 5--something about a monster cupcake appeals to me as a fresh idea. I like the open mouth and the scale and perspective in 4, and I like the arms and legs-but also the cherry-on-the-top as an eye in 5.

ahh-is this what is meant by offering a variety of early sketches as options-and then choosing which to develop to the next step? (I hear Lee talking about this in the podcast).

I like 4 the best. It's a funny concept and it would be cool to see further sketches of it at different angles, variations πŸ™‚ Good luck with it!

Here's the next round of thumbnails, any preferences or thoughts on the thumbnails? I rarely work this way and am trying to follow the checklist from the creative compositions course. Thank you!

@adrian-k Thank you for weighing in, this is my favorite mainly because it has the cake stand in it and I want to draw that. πŸ™‚

                    I think I like 5 best, too, followed by 3 and 1.

That poor monster! I love this.

                                Thank you!

@martha-sue Perhaps a bit of a warm glaze over some of the top parts, like maybe the hair or the skin? And perhaps lighten up the value a bit more behind the mouth to make it stand out, since that yawning cavern of a mouth is hilarious and has a great dimensionality! I would say to vary the line weight as well, but it may be too late for that, given that it's the 31st, so don't worry. It's just the I like your line work so much in your second round of sketches! Sorry, I only just saw this thread morning, but your concepts were all funny, and I liked 2 and 5 as compositions as well. Good luck!

Lovely work, I like your idea and composition! Sorry i'm a little late posting too, the one thing i'd say is keep her left arm in the scene as its a little distracting that it's off to the side, that might just be me though πŸ™‚

@martha-sue this is really cute! It’s giving me an Alice in Wonderland vibe.

@lauraa Thank you! These are great suggestions. I might have time for those, we'll see. About the line quality, I have this gap between my traditional media line quality and digital. Also working on the difference between my fine art, and making a planned out illustration. I get cool line quality, and sometimes a good vibe to my traditional media work but it's like untamed and I can't get it to look like that when I thumbnail and plan things out. Onward I guess!
