off topic, recommendation for books for a 11 year old boy
-
Hi everyone, I need some great books for my nephew he is 11 yrs old, looking for suggestions, Thanks!

If he’s into science or mechanics, both of my sons enjoyed “How Things Work” types of books at that age. Graphic novels are also good and again, depending on his interests, you might want to look at the books that show cut away interiors of space ships or clipper ships (medieval castles, human anatomy) or whatever he likes. I have several that my sons looked at so much the covers are falling off. Some of those books are geared for younger kids but some - especially space craft stuff - are definitely geared to older kids.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, of course
“100 Cupboards”and “The Whatnot” are a little spooky, fantasy fiction, but interesting.
If he’s a big reader, Eragon is a great book. Another fantasy fiction.
The How to Train Your Dragon series is pretty great and easy reading.
These are all books That I either read with my son or he read on his own.
Happy shopping.

@burvantill I second Eragon. My younger son read that and got very involved even though he’s not a fantasy kind of guy at all.

@lmrush The Septimus Heap series by Angie Sage. The Name of This Book is Secret by Pseudonymous Bosch and the rest in that series. Chronicles of Narnia. The Extraordinary Adventures of Ordinary Boy. Chasing Vermeer, The Wright 3, and The Calder Game (great Mystery fiction series about art). The Anybodies, The Nobodies, and The Somebodies by N.E. Bode. Alcatraz and the Evil Librarians series.
Those are all books I liked when I was around that middle school age about ten years ago—yikes, feels like yesterday. I was partial to series, so if he likes any he'll have a few for a while

@teju-abiola Thank you so much!

@lmrush Hi Lisa! Have you looked into the Treehouse books written by Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton? My daughter loooooooves them! The books are a lot of fun with two friends (the writers :p) who get into a bunch of mischief while building there HUUUUGE tree house. The book is easy to read away and has lots of illustrations.
