I don't have a lot of personal experience, I think that sleeved pages are totally fine and accepted but if this is something you want to invest in screwpost bound portfolios seem to be preferred for exhibiting the work- less glare and more customization without extra pages etc.
My local one is saying either vertical or horizontal but no bigger then 11x14 or 11x17, I think . I'll have to double check that number I don't have it in front of me
Here are some nice examples that I've found

          Thanks @Heather-Bouteneff and @Kevin-Longueil

After some research, I think I'm going to make my own as I have most of the materials kickin' around šŸ™‚

@Braden-Hallett mounting work on foam board makes it look pretty cool and not cost a fortune. Also it gives it a bit of longevity.

@Braden-Hallett So are you binding it into a book?

@Braden-Hallett I was going to make mine like this as well (Pinterest rocks) but then I saw @smceccarelli portfolio and hers has sheet protectors for her pages. So I bought some today and they might not work with this same post hole design. Not enough space between the holes and the paper for the bend in the cover. I’m brainstorming new options as I type this. My first personal portfolio critique on my digital portfolio is tomorrow, morning 😃 so I will start building the physical portfolio after that.

@burvantill interestingly enough, I though I needed sheet protectors, too! But the people in my local SCBWI all have their art without. They seem to think the glare from the plastic can tweak the art. I may try both!

@Braden-Hallett Hmm. Good point. That can be very annoying. The last thing we want to do is annoy potential future bosses.
