I love your finished piece and I think it is going to be a beautiful book when you're done. Very touching. The dummy is looking good. I have no critiques at this time.

Sooooo, last night, I figured out my scheduling for what all I need to have done before my dummy book deadline. (Aug 31st). Just over a month left. Ugh! I have to get at least two spreads drawn out a week! This is going to be an interesting 6 weeks.
Below is one of the spreads I plan to work on this week (Spread 5). I'm leaning towards 7 & 8. How about you all?

Okay, spread 5! I started this baby last night! Before I hit the detail stage (hopefully tonight/probably this weekend), You all let me know your thoughts if you have any πŸ™‚

              Actual Layout:
YEY! I got everything sketch, but now I just gotta finished both my new layouts, finished up the layout from last week. And finish my Croc Picnic pice for the monthly prompted. Wow, I think I know what I'm doing with my three day weekend.
Let me know what you all think? I'm wondering about the stepping stones on the first page, they look like they are floating a bit. But that could be remedied during the color stage. Also should I have them going completely across the page vs. halfway like they are now? Let me know your opinions πŸ™‚

                @Squirrel-Size
Environment heavy spreads have always been my favorite! This tree home looks like the coziest place to live. I like your decision of having the elements from the right side of the spread merge into the left side. I think continuing the stones until the left-most part of the spread could be a good idea. Then the reader can visually follow the stones (path) the character took to the right spread. I also wonder if adding more decorative elements (like the flowers) to the left spread would be a good idea. I like that the text balances the image in the composition, but wonder if more should be added or if keeping it very simple is the way to go. And I think to answer this, I would just continue the treatment of the other spreads you have on this one. So if they've had a lot of breathing room this one works as is. Something else to think about is pacing. I feel like this is leading up to the climax of the story, so maybe thinking about how you can build that anticipation until the next spread (which I'm reading as the climax). I definitely don't have the answers to these questions, but hope it's something that can get you thinking some more about your story's layout and how it reads. Best of luck!

sooo inspiring! I am struggling with my own little story for more than 1 year now, not doing much (and having 3 other stories now that I want to illustrate!). When I see your work and dedication, I feel I can achieve this too. Thank you so much! I just decided to go to bed early today to set again my morning routine and finally drawing my book!

@Alicja-W Awe! Thanks πŸ™‚ your input is sooo helpful. This is the most heaviest environmental book I've ever done. It has its challenges for sure. The more I look at it the more I agree with putting the stone walkway all across the left bottom page. A lot of the spreads will have that kind of layout, with a fully rendered page and then the text page with a few elements embellishing it. Wow, I haven't thought of this spread in that way, about it leading up to the climax of the story. That's something I definitely need to be away of. Thanks again!

Thanks @BichonBistro I really had fun sketching those little birds. πŸ™‚

@Marsha-Kay-Ottum-Owen Hey Marsha! the project is going great! I got at least 12 hours of sketching down this weekend! I'll post in a bit what I got done.

@Julia You can do it girl! I would love to hear more about your book project! And thanks for the video link! I'll check it out for sure.

Spread 5 is almost done! Just a few finishing touches and maybe a second sunflower so the one sunflower wont get too lonely. Oh! That almost sounded like Bob Ross! I think I'm related to him, hehehehe

Okay! Here are some book cover ideas! I'm not sure what the title will be yet, and you all can help me with that. Right now i have it as: "When I Remember You" I looked that title up and there are a whole lot of "I Remember You" books out there already which is similar. Let me know your thoughts/ideas of book titles/names. πŸ™‚

Which thumbnail touches your heart strings? I have several favs. I'm really liking numbers 1, 5, 6 and 7. What are you'll thoughts?

Guess what happened last week! I got the flue! Boo! It wasn't bad, but I was unable to complete my last weeks goals of drawing two spreads. So now I have a ton to catch up on this week and I'm going on a business trip on top of that. Oh, boy! This is going to be an interesting week. Here is what I got done so far from last weeks spreads:
                                        comments and suggestions welcom πŸ™‚

                                        Screen Shot 2019-08-05 at 7.51.40 AM.png
So far, I'm really happy with spread 1. I love where its going, I still have a few things to work on. Below is the thumbnail:

                                        IMG_0642.jpg
I still have a lot to do on spread 6. But so far I like how the hat and the humming birds have turned out πŸ™‚

(side note) I made Little Squirrel a bit longer than I would otherwise because I've found that the gutter (which is the line down the middle) likes to eat up the page making horizontal things look shorter after its printed.

                                            Hey Elizabeth,

I've seen many children's book covers where a child hugs a parent, so I suggest #6 as a safe bet.
Also, do you think 'A Little Place to Remember' is a good title for the book?
