Okay folks after two hours of driving (my commute hour each way) ten hours of work, walking puppy, and cuddling parrots I finally got some time to draw.. decided to use the brush pen for my blobs today and quickly discovered I might benefit from more line practice with the brush pen so here is my mix for the days home work. Sadly not quite a full page I hope to do better tomorrow 🀞😬 now for some food and rest before the restart tomorrow!

I'm having SOME success imagining the blobs as really weird oranges. I mark each 'orange' into sections and shade one section at a time. Kinda helps πŸ™‚

@Erin-Cortese I agree that these shapes are the best for loosening upβ€”good idea to incorporate into daily practice! I find the shapes more stressful because I have to think more 😜
Daily accountability: (longer straight lines feel less wobbly and a bit more controlled and this is just week 3 😊)

@BichonBistro Thanks. Little by little I'm grasping the mechanics of it. Still a lot I can't do with a dip pen, unfortunately!

@chrisaakins Did you pencil the bird nest in first or do a rough sketch?

@BichonBistro Your shapes look so good! Mine are disgraceful, lol. Kidding, but they are pretty bad, and I want to work on them more before I post. You have great line control and sense of form!

@chrisaakins Awe thanks, I’m glad I can contribute in some way! Seeing everyone’s progress is really inspiring. Your inking skills are great! I’m amazed that you did the bird nest freehand, it looks fantastic.

It doesn't take long at all to develop more control when you do it every day πŸ™‚ Awesome shapes there!

I think I’m getting better with the brush pen. I’m going to focus on the beginning and end of my lines tho because I get a little hook when I rush, with all pen tools unfortunately. When I slow down and focus it doesn’t happen. I’m hoping that muscle memory will take hold.

@burvantill I think your brush pen is looking great. I tried brush pen last night instead of dip pen and it was so bad I’m not even going to post it. Getting fine lines is especially tough with a brush pen whereas with a dip pen, I can just use a finer nib. What is your secret?
