Hey everybody, this is Shane. I recently contributed a vehicle design course in the foundations curriculum and I just wanted to invite you to feel free to post your assignments/progress here for feedback or you can email me directly with questions as you progress through my course. shane@shanehuntart.com

      That’s all that’s it

I’m just starting to work through the course . Just did the first part of assignment 1. No questions yet. Just dropping my images here. And to say that the course has been great so far. Honestly I am not interested in vehicles in real life but the way you give them life has actually made me interested! And that’s saying a lot from a person who is more interested in creatures than man made objects! Excited to continue on through the course.

@Coley I am not taking the course yet but at first glance @shanehunt 's vehicles look so animated/ full of life. I agree I am not overly interested in cars I prefer spaceships but I do like early cars that come out of the 20's and 30's (at least some of the upper class automobiles). 🙂 You've given yours some character -cool.

@Coley This is excellent so far! Glad you’re enjoying the course. I like your caricatures here. But I feel like you had a hard time pushing certain aspects of the reference. This third drawing had a lot of nice motion lines pushing the direction forwards but then you may have had a hard time ignoring the shape of the front door. I think making that door shape more closely match that of the rest of the image would strengthen it.car.jpeg

@shanehunt ah, yes, I see your point! I'm coming from a representational oil painting background where I was very highly tied to reference so that influence is hard to break away from! Thanks for pointing that out 🙂 I'll be more aware of this going forward!

Ok here is the “weak” stance. I have to say im really happy with it even though it looks more sad than weak, but I still love it. But figuring this Out made my brains hurts.

@Coley yeah I’ve been trying to teach myself patience because normally I’d rush through it because theres so much to learnnn and i wanna learn it allll but if I slow down I can nail it better.

@ArtofAleksey agreed. I typically even watch the videos a few times. It doesn't all stay in the memory banks. I have the same repeated Aha moments over the same information lol

@Coley yes! Doing the assignments though (which I usually skip) helps me retain the info

@shanehunt thanks! I kept trying different things that didn’t seem to working the way I envisioned though so this was my result.
