JULY CONTEST: Design a book cover for the Wizard of Oz
-
@Marta-Kitka I really love your design for this one, Marta. It's given me lots of ideas! Thanks.

My steampunk take on 'The Wizard of Oz' book cover. Had fun getting this composition done! This is my second piece done on a graphic tablet. Getting the hang of things! Great work everyone!

Love the super-charged creativity in all the submissions. Really inspiring to see.

@aprilshin Thank you!
-
@Coley he's so fluffyyy

Hereβs my entry! I wanted to do this traditionally but my paper got destroyed when I removed masking fluid! Of course this happens when youβre trying to finish something ASAP. So this is my half digital half traditional attempt at a book cover. This was a fun theme to make. Thank you!!

@DKRyland I love this! Very strong graphic shapes.
-
@Johanna-Kim I love this! What a world you created!

I tried to imagine why someone would hire me for this book cover project and decided they would come to me to apply my style to this subject matter. So it ended up being a bit more retro-graphic and adult market than some of the others. I tried to imagined the book on display in a bookstore and what would draw me to it.

@fpichel I realize this is late, but I only joined SVS after hearing the podcast about the contest Thursday. I made this illustration yesterday, but wasn't able to post it to the forum last night because I wasn't sent an email confirmation email until this morning.
Anyway - great work everyone. Exciting to see so many excellent solutions. Thanks! -
@carrieannebrown this is excellent - great type design too.

I had a really bad time trying to understand how this forum works but I'm happy to be with you all. Here's my entry, if it's accepted .

@Gaelle-Grizzly I really enjoy your character designs, especially the scarecrow! The color and light in this piece is really effective.
-
@aprilshin Aww thank you!!
-
@Johanna-Kim you've included so much in this design! Could keep looking at and seeing new things each time. Well done, it's amazing
-
@Coley Thanks so much:)

Here is my submission for the July contest.
Great job everyone! -
@ajillustrates Thank you so much! It makes it a bit less Wizard of Oz, but I had fun experimenting with it.
