I wanted to stop by and introduce myself. My name is Abbey, I'm a 31 year old mom of three. I live on a 5 acre homestead in NC and am living the dream with my family.
Back in 2019 I rediscovered my love for drawing and creating. I took a few years of playfully creating, learning, and figuring out what I want to do with my "hobby."
Honestly I feel like I've been spinning my wheels for a while but am not going anywhere. I've gotten closer to knowing what sort of work I want to create, but can't seem to figure out how to get there. So here I am!
I'm hoping to learn a lot, improve, and am really looking forward to finding some kindred spirits here to become friends with and get accountability from!

Hi! During the critique arena, I noticed that several other SVS members are in Portland, OR like me. Now that the weather is getting nice, maybe it would be fun to meet at a park or something to get to know each other? We could even talk about creating a workshopping or accountability group. Yes, I am working on writing my first children's book, then I want to illustrate it.

I have seen Coral Painter, but never used it. I use Clip Studio Paint.

This is super cool. I'm so excited for you and your journey, which sounds terrifying and exhilarating. There is this really amazing illustrator named Lisa Congdon (@lisacongdon) who didn't start drawing until " later in life" and has since made a wonderful and meaningful career for her self.

But most of all, she wrote and illustrated a book, A Glorious Freedom, highlighting several other women how followed their dreams later on in their lives. I believe there is even a woman who got her piloting license in her 70s (might be wrong about the age).

Either way. Do what makes you happy! Add more joy into your world, and when you are ready to share it, there is a community here waiting to support you. ♥
