While this isn't exactly answering your question, you might find this helpful. While I don't know of any illustrator specific podcasts, two good art marketing podcast, are:

One Fantastic Week
Art Marketing Podcast by Art Storefronts.

Both are more targeted towards the independent artist but are full of amazing content. I would say One Fantastic Week will have something more to your liking. The Art Marketing Podcast is more business orientated. One Fantastic Week has great content for any artist looking to go pro.

@smceccarelli that is such a good idea. I can see how it would save time in the long run. Plus you the way you have them layed out here you can see that there is a nice color scheme throughout.

@gary-wilkinson Great stuff! I feel like this process will be a constant back and forth between "defining" and allowing things to take their natural course.

I am naturally a somewhat anxious person and I think it becomes hard to remember to just enjoy the process, so constantly reminding myself of this, and hearing about other people on similar journeys is extremely helpful.

My prints came!! Pheeew, just in time! So, let's see let's see...

Overall I am very happy with my samples!! The paper is a thick cardstock, the printing crisp and beautiful, and the texture on the front is really nice - matte and soft, almost velvety more than a paper texture! The prints do come in a tube so I had to put them under some heavy books to flatten out a bit. But I assume most of my customers will want to frame them (they're nursery prints) so they might even skip this step. The cardboard tube is nice and sturdy, with a custom sticker with my logo on it - very cool! Inside, the prints are rolled into a sheet of white tissue paper, with an additional ball of tissue paper on each end so they can't move around. There's a little packing slip inside with my logo and details, my email address and a custom note I wrote (thank you for shopping, hope you like it, here's a coupon, blah blah blah). This all looks very nice and professional!

@chip-valecek Strangely my PS 1/2 updated so if I open a file with PS it opens as 2019 version with all my plugins and tool setting missing but if I open it from my windows tool bar were I have a shortcut I get 2018 version with all my setting and functions setup properly.

and yes I'd love to see it published to use both as a portfolio piece and make some money of it if possible, not necessarily a ton of money. I put so much effort in preparation, drawing, and will still color it, so i would love to see it get some attention, would even be better to say "it sold several copies" rather than "it was decoration in my bookcase"!

Hi everybody. As I'm going through publishers' submission guidelines it's clear I need to have a few hard copies of my book dummy to mail out. Can someone recommend a reasonably priced online source for printing and assembling of book dummies? Thanks!

I typically use split screen or use my computer screen as reference if I’m sitting at my desk, the only time I bring a reference pic to the Canvas is to create a color palette.

I like both. I also like it when you can see the loose underdrawing just peaking through.

You could always do a loose pencil sketch then do a tighter line after. I've done that before and enjoy it. And I am a messy painter really haha

@jthomas haha yes, I am a little early on with client work, having worked in house in the games industry for a long time. I guess some things are all shiny and new for me right now.

Starting Point, 1979-1996 by Hayao Mayazaki is more of a collection of ramblings organized in chronological order, I'm in the middle of it and I find it really interesting.
