Thanks, @NessIllustration! In the end, I was convinced that they only wanted it for their own organization, so I sold it for time spent. It was a small amount, but more convenient than teaching ESL!
@aleksey Yeah I got applecare for my ipad and the screen had some light leak down the side. I think I crushed it slightly climbing over a boulder. Oops. But Apple just gave me a new one for free, no questions asked.
@coreyartus This is everything! Thanks for sharing it. I have a much better sense of the color palettes seeing them in the different works. What a great tool
I have signed up for backgrounds (very excited!) and am thinking of adding a second class because I'm in the mood to work hard. I took Turbocharging last year and really liked it, but am now looking to add something new. Ideation lab looks interesting, but I'm having a hard time figuring out what it is---is it more related to drawing or to thought processes in general? And how is it related to the creativity processes that we learned in Turbocharging?
Has someone taken both? If so, could you explain the difference to me? Thanks!
@coley Yep, I think that's a platform, also known as an Operating System. I've used it before, and in comparison to more commonly known programs or apps it reminds me a lot of Corel's Painter, not so much Photoshop. It has indeed been heavily criticized for crashing all the time, but with the newer 2018 iPads that have more memory that may not be a problem anymore.
It has a lot of controls in a very tight area which requires a unique way to access them--they reduce in size until you tell them to pop up into a larger scale. It's... interesting... hehe...
@kaitlinmakes I took a course that was an evening a week for a year, great thing was I met some good friends. The teacher was coasting on previous successes with the course I felt tho. So I felt for the money it wasn't worth the 1300 euro. Then I found schoolism which was so affordable and on par with the cost of SVS. All about the instructors! I'm a big fan of Jake parker, Lee White and Will Terry so I'm looking forward to getting stuck in.
@laura I get the numb pinky too. Super annoying. My traps are always tight and I have to figure out how long I can go and use a left handed mouse at work usually (I'm right handed). 😞
@nyrrylcadiz I thought that initially as well, but what confuses me is that when I export from my MacBook, or my iMac, the colours are consistent. I did quite a bit of graphic design work and web design work on both of those devices, and I never had colour consistency issues (even when viewing on client devices). How did you go about calibrating your devices?
Oegh, and when contacting book printers, it is good to know that often you can ask for a sample book to be sent your way.
If you want to save on costs since it is a school study, you can also look into online printers. I have no experience yet myself, but I know they may not offer sewn binding, and cannot be visited physically, but it will often be reasonable pricing wise.
