5am, before life gets too busy. I'll sketch up rough ideas during the little moments of the day, but I like having a good chunk of quiet focus time to work on the finished picture. Working at 5am gives me an hour before the day starts.Are you planning to use these drawings once you're done other than just posting to social media?
I don't have any definite plans. I admire people that make good use of their art pieces in several different ways, but for now I'm just focused on learning and improving my skills.Rodent (relaxing in a warm cup of tea):

You are free to post fan art, but due to copyright laws those images might not be able to be posted in the student gallery on the homepage or in the Q&A blog post. Historic and realistic art is all welcome.

I decided to do a project this year after seeing all of the cool books and posters others have made during inktober. I was inspired to make a short comic that is based on Alice's Adventures in Wonderland but with a dark twist (which I think really fits my art style). I planned my layout and penciled all of my pages in September to prep because I knew inking a full comic page everyday was going to be very time consuming by itself.When are you planning to make time to do your ink drawings?
I have enough time to work on them in the mornings this year. In the past I would rush home from work and try to get them done before bed so I am really enjoying being able to spend a few hours on them every morning. I am using traditional ink so there is a bit of time I have to set aside for set up and clean up also.Are you planning to use these drawings once your done other then just posting to social media?
I am hoping to compile all 31 pages into a short comic that I can have printed at some point. I might also see if I can add the story to a digital comic platform eventually. This has been a really big intimidating project but I am really happy with the results so far.

I'm aiming to utilize the official Inktober prompts to guide my creativity, but I want to create concepts that connect back in a unique way. For example, my post for Day Eight; I imagined that most artists were going to base it off of what one might find in a human or animal's mouth—you know, a dentist's definition of "Teeth." An idea came into my mind revolving around the teeth of gears/cogs, so I drew a robot inspecting its inner mechanisms.

Whenever I can find the time! Sometimes I'll conceptualize and draw first thing in the morning, other times, it'll do so in the afternoon. As long as I get my homework done, I'll be sure to draw.

At the moment, no. Initially, I wished to use Inktober as an opportunity to build up my social media following (mainly on Instagram). It's worked, but not as much as I hoped (and that's because I'm posting at inopportune times). So I shifted my focus to just improving my traditional inking skills. Perhaps someday I'll sell prints of some of my pieces, but I'll take it one day at a time.

About every 3-5 days as I finish an illustration.
What are you using to guide your drawings (such as an overarching theme and/or the prompts list)? Give details.
I'm attempting a condensed version of the official prompt list this year. Instead of a drawing a day for each prompt, I'll combine consecutive prompt words and create a single image for the group. This will give me a little more time to brainstorm and finish each image, but push me to come up with a creative way to interpret the prompt words. I can combine as many words as I'd like, but they must be consecutive.
When are you planning to make time to do your ink drawings?
I'm a bit of a night owl, so usually work late at night (sometimes into early morning). But if I'm lucky, I can also work on them for an hour or two in the late afternoon.
Are you planning to use these drawings once your done other then just posting to social media?
These are primarily for social media and to practice making images with a faster turn-around. But I'd also like to add my favorite ones to my illustration portfolio either as they are or after adding full color.

I'm making a drawing everyday. After watching the SVS classes about Inktober I got the idea to work on just one character, a little girl in different situations. I thought each prompt could be a good way to work on my character development so I'm working digitally with a limited colour palette so that my focus remains on the girl. At the moment I'm managing to stay a day or two ahead of each prompt coming out. I'll be creating a section on my website especially for the Inktober prompts and might make some little cards too.

*I am following Jakes prompt list, while making individual pieces, all taking place in a world with elves.Basically I am exprimenting with various stuff, such as backgrounds, perspeective, action poses, storytelling within one panel, and comic making ( with word balloons) -
When are you planning to make time to do your ink drawings?
*I sketch next days prompt as a warm up,and then I procced with inking current days piece.
(example, at 11/10, I sketch the 12/10 piece, and i ink the 11/10 prompt)I begin at 6 30 am and try to end stictly around 9, cause I work for client work and then my regular job at noon (taekwondo coach)! -

Hi this is my first time doing Inktober. I plan on drawing everyday. I’m looking to build better habits and explore ink. I haven’t really thought of the different skills required to become skilled at inking images. I picked up a Pentel brush pen, some ink, and a 2/0 round brush last spring, but haven’t used them much. This month I’m using them along with some microns. I’ve been really using the prompts to guide me though this challenge. I don’t have an overarching theme for my drawings I’m trying to get by day by day. I try to draw during my lunch and after dinner. Instead of watching tv I’ve been drawing and inking. At the end of the month, I hope to find some drawings that would make a good jumping off point for a few paintings. I tried to make the pictures the correct size. My pc isn’t working at the moment so I’ve tried to edit the file size on my phone.

- Instead of doing individual pieces for each prompt, this year I'm doing one large piece with interacting characters. I've chosen the Battle of Hogwarts, the finale for the Harry Potter series. However, I am allowing the prompt list to at times direct which order I produce the drawing (for example, I drew Hagrid on Day 3 (bulky), but waited unti Day 11 (disgusting) to draw the monster spider attacking him.
When are you planning to make time to do your ink drawings?
- I'm blocking out 8:30 - 10:30 every night to plan out in pencil and then ink the character to be posted the next day. Basically, when the kids go to bed, the brush pen comes out.
Are you planning to use these drawings once your done other then just posting to social media?
- Yes. I've chosen to produce this piece on watercolor paper, so that I can then turn it around and paint it for Slowvember. The goal for that painting is to use it as a middle grade proof concept/portfolio piece, as well as offer it as prints at fan art events.

One of my goals is to get more confidence at coming up with ideas, so I didn't want to limit myself to a theme. I actually surprised at how the ideas are coming and it seems I'm getting to know what my process might be (I've never actually had a 'process'!) My other goal is to get improve my drawing and inking. The SVS courses have sure made a difference.
When are you planning to make time to do your ink drawings? I usually try to do my drawings in the morning. I look at the next word as soon as I've finished a picture to give myself some extra time to think about it, and maybe find some reference photos but the drawing is done on the day of the prompt. I often wake up thinking about Inktober!
Are you planning to use these drawings once your done other then just posting to social media? I wasn't planning to use the drawings for anything other than social media, but I might actually use one of them for a greeting card and some of the characters that have popped out are so cute I might just keep going with their stories.
I've been working traditionally. So far I've been using a pental brush pen, a micron pen, a muji pen and/or brush with india ink. I need lots of practice with these!!

I am working with the official prompt list this year, but with a running theme focused on fantasy and magical creatures. So, by the end of Inktober, I will have 31 new characters! I took the whole of September to get the ideas in place. All my characters have been penciled out already. I have also been having a go at the Inktober Primal prompts. There are a total of 4 prompts which I can comfortably work on since I am done planning for the main 31 pieces. - When are you planning to make time to do your ink drawings?
Since I have finished penciling in my characters, I just spend some time at night inking. It is the best time to illustrate, as no one can disturb me. I find the whole inking process very soothing and therapeutic, to be quite honest! A real stress buster! I have particularly enjoyed working on the Primal prompts, as these have allowed me to develop the scenes in the form of a story or mini comic strip. I have chosen to depict the main characters, Spear and Fang, encountering different prehistoric creatures while carrying on with their travels. - Are you planning to use these drawings once you're done other then just posting to social media?
Last year, I did Inktober to get some of my ideas fleshed out, for a book I am writing. The book is something of a personal project/ hobby that I do from time to time when I feel like escaping reality, and just want to unwind. Inktober helps me practise and improve on my story-telling, conceptualisation, line work and hatching techniques. I also have been working with different materials and mediums now, to get more experience in that sense. This year, I will colour in these new 31 characters for Slowvember and create a collage of all 31 characters together.
