A cosy underwater reading nook. I did this illustration for Deaf Awareness Week May 3-9 and some characters have cochlear implants. My niece has cochlear implants and likes to see children's illustrations with children that look like her.

My first mermay drawing. It was for May the 4th, so I used the chance to sneak in some star wars stuff (it's a lightsaber she's grasping at - I'm not sure how obvious that is). I have been doing the Painting Color and Light course, so I wanted to experiment with some interesting lighting. I intentionally kept the rest of the image very simple.

When your dog stares at your while you eat.

Whenever I think of mermaids, my mind instantly goes to those beautiful illustrations of perfectly curved body shapes and flowing hair and magical atmosphere. Oh how I wish I could create something like that one day. But for now, I think cute is what makes me happy
