Thumbs for a Alice in Wonderland Rabbit Commission WIP
-
Here are some commission thumbs...not sure if you can tell what's going on here but if you have a sec for feed back that'd be awesome.
-
@randarrington So the client picked the first thumbnail and I was hoping to share the drawing and get feedback before moving forward. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
-
@randarrington this is really great perspective. I love now the trees behind
have a warped sort of feel to them. Also nice detail of shelf mushrooms on the tree. Cant wait to see how it comes along. -
@asyas_illos THANK YOU!!!!!!
-
@randarrington really nice, expressive lines.
In terms of feedback, what could you do to strengthen the storytelling and make it clear this is the White Rabbit (and not other famous rabbits)?
Could the pocket watch and waistcoat be more personalized? Or make the pocket watch oversized?
Since the White Rabbit is always in such a rush, why is he standing still in this illustration? Could he be running through the scene? Could you accentuate his movement?
I think doing these two things might help make the illustration more dynamic and add more of your personality to a commonly illustrated story.

@melissa-bailey-0 Thank you so much!!!!! I'll give those ideas a go!!!!!
-
@randarrington you're very welcome! Glad you found the feedback helpful.
-
@melissa-bailey-0 Here's the changes that were mentioned. What do you think?
-
@randarrington oh yeah! This is more dynamic. And it is instantly recognizable as the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland. Well done!
-
@melissa-bailey-0 Thank you!!!!!!! What do you think of the right limb of the rabbit?...I may need to adjust that a little....
-
@randarrington that arm is a little wonky looking isnt it. Maybe if it were on his cheek or brow? Like in total worry? Either way it still looks
-
@randarrington I think you could also draw it in a fist position instead of swinging upwards. Looking forward to seeing it in color!
-
@asyas_illos Yeah I think I need to play with it just a little. I'll try adjusting the foreshortening and maybe with a slightly different position. Thank you for the feedback!!!!!
-
@larue hmmm...maybe...I'll but some thought into fixing for sure. Thank you for your feedback!!!!! I'm looking forward to seeing it in color too.
