Hey everyone,
I would value some feedback on this painting. I feel comfortable saying this is about the best art I can do right now. That said, I would love to know what areas can use the most improvement. My intuition is painting technique and use of color... And line work... And everything, but would appreciate other thoughts. Thank you!(Acrylic ink with dip pen and Cotman water colors on Arches hot press)

@J-Morgan-Looney I really like this illustration! These are a specific kind of mushroom, correct? I'd love to know the story and concept behind this image. You have done a good job with the vivid application of watercolor and ink. I think it is good that you placed the red amanita mushroom behind the breakdancing central mushroom, but I think it is a bit too low and it keeps distracting me. If the mushrooms wear shoes, can you give the central dancing mushroom a bit of red clothing of some kind of bring the attention there, or else raise the amanita so that it frames that mushroom better? I think the gesture of the dancing mushroom is great and I love how you drew the boombox. You've also drawn some motion lines around some of the watching mushrooms, but their legs are generally all on the ground and they don't actually look like they are dancing, so perhaps getting more gesture and movement so they look like they are dancing along would be an improvement. All in all, this is an intriguing piece!

@Jeanne-M-Bowman thank you Jeanne, that is helpful feedback. The idea came when I was doing a master study of Guznag's work (focusing on character design and line quality). I remembered a time when I found a cluster of Morel mushrooms around an elm tree stump. I came up with this idea and tried to draw it with some of Guznag's style. (Guznag.com)
I absolutely see what you mean about the amanita mushroom. I think that would have helped the piece a lot! I was going for kind of a head nod thing with the motion lines- I think you are right about the gesture. They could look more participatory and even dancing would have been fun to play with. I appreciate you taking the time to give feedback!

@J-Morgan-Looney I LOVE Guznag's work! I have been following him for a while and I love how his lines are so expressive. I can see now a bit of that influence in your work here.
