Hidden Squirrel WIP ADVICE NEEDED

The dilemma I always get to at this point, Am i finished? Last night I thought I was and this morning I’m thinking I could go further but am worried about messing it up. I have been looking at a lot of watercolor illustrations and feel that I’ve pushed the value range enough on this one that it’s not flat and boring. But then I feel this way at the end of EVERY painting I do. So I’m asking for your advice/opinions. I think I’m finished. Do you?

@burvantill When i first saw the sketch on Instagram I loved the dog, however I thought at first it was a three headed dog. It took me a second to read that he was moving his head back and forth. I hope you don't mind, but I took it into photoshop and blurred the middle to give the effect of movement. I also tweaked the levels and knocked up the saturation a little. Thats just personal preference for me. When ever I finish a piece I tend to do that, to me it gives the piece a little more life.

I had the same experience as @Chip-Valecek --I thought at first that it was Cerberus (which was cool also) but then realized what was going on. It looks great with the colors!

Since I’m not going to go digital with this one do you think if I make the extra noses more distinct that would help express the motion? Darker noses and add a little white around them? I’m just gonna go do that. If I F it up, I F it up.

@whitney-simms LOL! Thanx! That poor puppy is my dog and this actually happened, but with a snake, not a squirrel. We call him the T-Rex of dogs. If the prey stands still he can't see it. LOL!
