I’ll join in. I’ve been trying to teach myself watercolor this summer and having produced some mediocre landscapes, I thought I’d try some birds. I took a bunch of photos of some common mergansers on Lake Ontario, and drew rough studies of them, brought them into Procreate, and have begun to arrange them. This is very preliminary but I really enjoyed drawing them. (The skelton under the clip is from my other project, a Childen’s book for my niece starring a donkey. Nothing to do with ducks.)

@demotlj you birds are looking great! I like their texture. If you chose to color ithese in photoshop, its sketchiness with definitely add character to it.

Accomplished Networking today. It wasn't as scary as i thought it would be. LOL. @kaitlinmakes and I met up at the zoo and drew some cute animals. We are going to meet up again in a month to practice plein air.

Here is another portrait and a project that I did with my students. We painted the background first as an abstract watercolor. Then we had to draw using exaggerated 3 point perspective a fantasy building with a fantastical beast using color pencils. Last we will scan and print them and ink them. So. Freaking. Fun.

Great idea for a thread, love your watercolors!!! My son started Pre K so I have more studio time as of this month. I am working on 5 sketches with the theme persistence, following a young dancer, this is a value sketch for one of the 5 called "The Fall" Great work everyone!
