@smceccarelli Hahaha this is so cool! I love how his eyes are peeking up from over the pumpkin.

I’m still traveling, but soon I’m back in the studio and I will upload some time-lapse of these, as promised.

Oh wow I really love your characters, the texturing is wonderful, it really looks traditional! I'll definitely be trying those brushes 😃
Would love to see all of them together at the end!

              No 9 - I thought I’d call this ā€œThe Sha-womanā€, but then, maybe itĀ“s not appropriate. So,ā€œAnimal spiritā€? ā€œForest Priestessā€?

Note and question: I will start posting these on social media tonight at midnight CEST (yes, itĀ“s 13 days to Halloween!!) and I’m giving away a print of choice among all the characters (or the group shot at the end) to two randomly picked followers (not yet decided if two for Instagram and two for Twitter or one and one).
So, if you were teetering about following me or not on social media, this may be the right moment to do so ;-)) . Instagram is simona.ceccarelli, Twitter is @smceccarelli.

And the question is: how do you randomly select a follower on Instagram? I see there are apps to do it on Twitter, but I haven’t figured out how to do it on Instagram. Or do you just go to your follower list, close your eyes and jab at the screen?

@smceccarelli Hee hee! I particularly like this one--the texture and color variation, the volume, the way the tentacles trail off into curls, the plethora of suction cups (or whatever you call them), the goofy eyes.

Sorry, I have no idea how to randomly select a follower, though!

@demotlj Yes - heavily inspired! There is an expression in Italian: ā€žtipo da spiaggiaā€œ, which I was trying to convey. ItĀ“s not translatable, unfortunately. ItĀ“s a derogatory term for somebody who is peculiar and stands out but in a way that makes him ridiculous, but he is completely unaware of that and believes he is awesome. I think the ā€žbeachā€œ (spiaggia) term comes from the fact that you encounter a lot of that on beaches. Language is awesome and inspiring sometimes...

These are so great! I think i still love the worm and jack o lantern the best. Something about his own glow lighting up the pumpkin seems so clever. And he’s cute!

@smceccarelli Yes, the tipo da spiaggia would have a necklace, and undoubtably a necklace tan (necklace green?)! An the three-eyed sunglasses--I think you've nailed it!

Just curious; How is "fuori come un balcone" different? Maybe that person knows he's eccentric? ("Out there" like a balcony. I love Italian!)

@lauraa Aha! I don’t miss Italy but I do miss some of the expressions of the Italian language! ā€œFuori come un balconeā€ would be more like ā€œbatshit crazyā€ - if you pardon me. Somebody who is completely nuts. ItĀ“s an extension of ā€œfuori di testaā€ - literally ā€œout of your mindā€.

@smceccarelli I am loving all of these. there is a consistency but also quite a bit of variety. the little details (like the candies in the brain-purse) really bring it to life. I'm a "with" cloak voter.

I use Procreate-and haven't had any problems crashing--YET (fingers crossed)--how big are the files you're making and that you think contribute to the crashing?

@burvantill I like your name suggestions. Language in the 21rst century is evolving so quickly and working hard to keep ahead of zany criticism.
