      heart demask pattern copy.jpg
I pieced it together. Ohhhh. So excited. Not sure if I will try it in other colors or change up the background. As for the shapes and patterns I am super happy.

First attempt at overlapping repeating patterns after watching Ohn Mar Win. yikes. This may take a while to get right.

white outlines and wedding items combined.jpg

I am pretty stoked about the white outlines. How fun it that. I did them in black and changed them to white in photoshop. Some elements I need to revisit, like the dress and pearls and a few others. However, I'm digging the bouquet and the cake!

Making Baby steps in the process of making seemless repeating patterns. Yay!

Still would love any comments, critiques or tips. This is a collection I really want to be strong.

Those seamless repeating patterns are absolutely lovely!!! I'm a theatrical costume designer by trade, and I can totally see both of those as cute little sun dresses! The orange floral would look gorgeous as a tiny rayon challis print for a breezy shift dress, and those red poppies are begging to be a cotton a-line cut dress for an afternoon tea!!

Seriously--please do something with these. I know fabric printing is a hard market to get into because there's a lot out there already, but these are just adorable!!

@Coreyartus thank you so much! I hope to get licensed at some point. My goal is by December 2021. That will be 20 years since I received my BFA. Just a silly timeline.

I hope this will be the first of the finished pattern collections to pitch to manufactures. I have a few collections that aren’t patterns I want to go and revisit and complete. And still create a few collections from new artwork.

I will at least upload these to spoonflower and get some of the fabric for myself. They say you should create work that you want. And I totally want some of these!

Your work is stunning! I’m sure you already know that. But what a talent to be able to create costumes like that! Your artwork is great too. I think I need to do a 100 hands project!

                    @Coley thanks!
I’ll make notecards for sure. I print those at home and will sell them. I’ll make a mother’s day card to go with the set. Almost like a gift with purchase when you buy a set of 8.
Then I may upload them to spoonflower for fabric. It’s a print on demand place.
After that they will just be used as a portfolio set on my website. At some point I hope they will be licensed turned into paper tablewear, or fabric or anything really. I’ll probably do some mock ups for a party set, plates and napkins, gift bags? But who knows.

                        leaf pattern copy.jpg

Here is the leaf pattern. I don't really like the background color. I am not sure if I should just paint one and put that behind it. Maybe a slight texture similar to the blush wedding items? That one has two layers in the background. I just hate every piece to have a textured background. In other collections that I see it doesn't have that. What do you guys think?

                          gingham green pattern 75 res.jpg
Here is the gingham. I know that there are better ways to fix the seams, but I am super stoked I have a way that works for this small project. I just put guides down and make sure it is set to "snap to guides." I cut half of the pattern and fix the seams (or is it seems). Then I paste it back and do the top side. Anyone else have a tried and true method?

@Whitney-Simms I don't think that this pattern needs a textured background -- it might make it too busy. I love all of the patterns you've done, and keep imagining them on my walls as wall paper. They'd make great wrapping paper too.

@Whitney-Simms I like the background color. To me it shows that the pattern can be placed on something with color. For example some Kleenex boxes that have floral patterns also have a faint color on the box. Or gift bags may be toned with a pattern on top. Great work!

@demotlj @Chip-Valecek thanks for your eyes. Sometimes I’m just too close to see if it really looks okay or how to fix it. Wallpaper is back. It’s crazy. And I would scream if my print was on a tissue box. I think I would buy a box every time I saw it. I’m one of those people that really care if the tissue box matches. Sometimes it’s not possible. Other times I buy the boxes just for the print.

last one. I may add one more blinder print at some point. I'm done with the collection and need to take a break from it.

These are so AWESOME!!! I am geeking out over the last bridal pattern, It's so great! It's really cool to see your progression through the project. Everything is lovely, but my favorites in the collection are the ones with soft background colors. (I agree with Chip on the leaves.) Great work! I'm really glad you're sharing your process! 🙂

@jennymwine I don’t think I’ve ever had some one geek out over my work. That’s pretty cool. I love soft colors. Dark is hard for me. I’m trying to make it a complete collection. Yikes! Stretching is so hard. But I’ll never have contrast if I don’t try. Thanks for your sweet words! Now i have to fancy it up to submit to the monthly contest. I have a few ideas to “show” it as a collection. Just copying other people’s ideas on display.

Do you guys have success with society6? I’m not sure I can wait to be officially licensed before I get to see my prints on wrapping paper or tote bags. I may even order sheets out of the heart damask. Have you guys made any real sales from the print your stuff cool things sites?

@Whitney-Simms i created a society6 shop but didn't really promote it. I just pushed a little on facebook and didn't get any traction. I'm sure if I tried harder I might of gotten some sales. I am starting a threadless shop right now. Working on getting designs loaded and ordered some samples to see the quality. If I am happy with the quality I will push that one. It seems to give you more money per sale then Society6 was offering.
