March Prompt "Book Cover"
-
The prompt this month is a book cover including type of any well known book or story. Focus needs to be to really try to capture the feel of the story. That is the reason it should be well known. If it was a story that you made up, no one would know if you hit the overall feel of the book.
Keep this thread for finished pieces only. Feel free to start your own thread for your WIP's. There is a new webpage all set with all the instructions. Please read over it here: https://www.svslearn.com/how-to-enter
Good luck everyone!

Wow this will be a grand challenge indeed. I thought of doing the Secret Garden but I havenโt read it recently but I just finished up Alice in Wonderland so I will aim for that.
-
Awesome!! I literally started working on a book cover yesterday. And I was thinking, maybe this will fit for the SVS prompt somehow. This never happens.
-
Happy Dance!! I need one of these for my portfolio.
-
@Kristin-Wauson make sure its a book that everyone knows.
-
@Chip-Valecek a slippery slope, but I think most will choose wisely
-
This is exciting! Iโm thinking some fairytale or the little prince.

My wife just demanded that I do The Little Prince!
-
@ajillustrates Oh, I love the little prince!
-
@ajillustrates no surprise there The Little Prince is a classic.
-
I asked my son because I couldnโt decide and he immediately shouts out Eragon! So Iโm doing Eragon.
-
Do people know Terry Pratchette stories? I want to do โThe Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodentsโ but I worry that not enough people know who Terry Pratchette was.
-
I'd like to do a cover for The Giver, by Lois Lowry, a middle grade book. Is everyone familiar with that story? Just want to be sure since I had a surprising/bad experience at a recent conference where both an art director and a picture book author/illustrator didn't seem to recognize the story.
-
As long as the book exists, I would just reference the book and maybe a link to the synopsis. I for one can not read, I have a hard time with it. I am a visual person and brief graphic novels over books. So this is going to be a hard one for me. I think the last book a read was in high school. I guess I should just do that one. I think it was Lord of the Flies.
-
@Chip-Valecek could you not do a book cover for nursery rhymes - I have two oldies (book collections) that I love?
-
@Johanna-Kim Not sure, sounds familiar -reminds me of The Stone Soup -read that one once in high school.
-
@Aleksey One of my very favorite writers--I've read everything he wrote. Amazing Maurice would be awesome!
-
@Johanna-Kim I love The Giver. It is definitely a classic and I would love to see what you would do with it!
-
@Heather-Boyd I'm sure that would be fine. As long as its not made up and it clearly defines what is in the book.
-
Cheers Chip, I like the prompt. I think Lord of the flies would suit your style really well too.
