March Prompt "Book Cover"
-
Awesome!! I literally started working on a book cover yesterday. And I was thinking, maybe this will fit for the SVS prompt somehow. This never happens.
-
Happy Dance!! I need one of these for my portfolio.
-
@Kristin-Wauson make sure its a book that everyone knows.
-
@Chip-Valecek a slippery slope, but I think most will choose wisely
-
This is exciting! I’m thinking some fairytale or the little prince.

My wife just demanded that I do The Little Prince!
-
@ajillustrates Oh, I love the little prince!
-
@ajillustrates no surprise there The Little Prince is a classic.
-
I asked my son because I couldn’t decide and he immediately shouts out Eragon! So I’m doing Eragon.
-
Do people know Terry Pratchette stories? I want to do “The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents” but I worry that not enough people know who Terry Pratchette was.
-
I'd like to do a cover for The Giver, by Lois Lowry, a middle grade book. Is everyone familiar with that story? Just want to be sure since I had a surprising/bad experience at a recent conference where both an art director and a picture book author/illustrator didn't seem to recognize the story.
-
As long as the book exists, I would just reference the book and maybe a link to the synopsis. I for one can not read, I have a hard time with it. I am a visual person and brief graphic novels over books. So this is going to be a hard one for me. I think the last book a read was in high school. I guess I should just do that one. I think it was Lord of the Flies.
-
@Chip-Valecek could you not do a book cover for nursery rhymes - I have two oldies (book collections) that I love?
-
@Johanna-Kim Not sure, sounds familiar -reminds me of The Stone Soup -read that one once in high school.
-
@Aleksey One of my very favorite writers--I've read everything he wrote. Amazing Maurice would be awesome!
-
@Johanna-Kim I love The Giver. It is definitely a classic and I would love to see what you would do with it!
-
@Heather-Boyd I'm sure that would be fine. As long as its not made up and it clearly defines what is in the book.
-
Cheers Chip, I like the prompt. I think Lord of the flies would suit your style really well too.
-
@Eli so its a throw up between that and the frog prince for me
-
OOOO! Just saw this - pretty excited to see what everyone comes up with, and I love that we're going with well known stories.
I think I'm going to go with either the short story "The Yellow Wallpaper" or the YA "Island of the Blue Dolphins." Anyone familiar with those stories? Also @Heather-Boyd - my friend told me the story for Stone Soup while camping once - brings back good memories.
I also agree with @peteolczyk for @Chip-Valecek - I think Lord of the Flies would be way up your alley.
