@MissMushy / Michelle-This scene in a fridge is so wonderful! There is color, food having fun, and the style is abstracted in a minimalist way that is appealing. Kids will love this. Canβt wait to see more of this.
-
Quick sketching time for this instagramchallange (#kombidoodlesmitsandy), tomorrow is "angry" and I combined it with "scissors"...I like the raw sketch, don't know if I will get to make it clean illustration
-
@MHardt thanks!
-
These are sketches for the SCBWI monthly Draw This competition. The theme is muddy.
A muddy boy and his dog are surprised by mom coming home from shopping.
-
@Nathan Lovely!
-
prompt was 'a freckled girl with antlers'
-
@Braden-Hallett you nailed the prompt for sure! Love your character.
-
And the finished color version
-
Today's prompt was 'a young pharoah'. Dunno how those bodyguards are balancing that litter :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_closed_eyes:
-
I've been doing a fabric study and dialing in a new CSP workflow over the past couple of days.
-
@Braden-Hallett Their fists sure say it all haha. And it's real nice you included one of those crop cutting swords -roughly the size of the that kid's...sorry I mean "pharaohs" head hahaha. I'm okay, I'm done.
-
@Heather-Boyd Fun fact, the khopesh (the sword ) was actually patterned after an axe. It was sharpened on the outside of the curve like an axe, not the inside like a sickle.
They're totally just biding their time until they can cut off his head, though
-
My entry in the SCBWI Draw This monthly contest. Prompt is Muddy. How much trouble do you think they are in?
-
@burvantill Love it! Good luck.
-
Had a chance to traditionally paint my cats a few nights ago. I think it turned out better than I was expecting.
-
@burvantill I've gotta get my rear in gear and do an entry for that prompt...
I love all the muddy smeared paw prints
-
Newest comic page! Mayb next chapter I'll try flat cel shading.
-
@SketchyArtish @Braden-Hallett , thanx guys!

Just trying to produce more finished work so I can evaluate it and have it evaluated online. This is a waiter I saw in a (coffee) bar in a tiny mountain hamlet near Aosta, Italy. He looked fierce and eccentric and I thought he might make a good character. I am always torn, though, between whether to exaggerate for comic effect or whether to keep things relatively realistic.
I didn't have much time to be on the forums while I was taking the Backgrounds course, but now I'll try to start posting and commenting again οΈ.

I'm working on some illustrations for a doula who is doing some parenting workshops.
