There is this instagram challange #childhoodweek from 7.-13.July (https://www.instagram.com/childhoodweekevent/ by Beatrice Blue) and I really wanted to do at least one promt, so today (ok saturday, now is already sunday here and i have to go sleep...)
So I did the first promt "Books", as I really liked to read, first books were about Mammoths, wolves, Indians.
I didn't do a value or color study, only teh sketch and goooo color....

@MichaelaH This is a really fun piece. I love how the girl is interacting with the mammoth and the wolf. The prompts sound lovely, too! Have fun taking part in the challenge. 🌻

After some days, again working on my fish and bear story. I decied to do only thumbnail values and thumbnail colors and after it I am drawing like usual, with colors on the big picture.
But one thing I found, I can have the same psd file open at the same time (window/arrange/new window "openfilename") and than I set this new window with the same psd file to greyscale (view/proof setup/ working grey or custom - working grey) and am drawing in the second file and see all changes in the grey psd file. So I can check/watch the values through the whole color painting process.

              Finished, water was difficult....
English is not my strength, so if the text needs some correction, I am open to any help.

@MichaelaH I love the water! Also, all of the expressions are awesome.

As for the text, the double quotation marks (" ") should be placed at the top like this:

"Ohhh, ohhh, you know this one?"

                and

"Why don't bears like fast food?
                Because they can't catch it!"

This looks great Michaela, i was looking forward to seeing this finished yay!
As for the text, I don't think you need to say 'the fish with the red fins' as we can see from your illustration that he has red fins πŸ™‚
Maybe give them names like Little Fish and Big Bear or something, and I think there should be a pause between when the fish asks the question and then tells the punchline, maybe say something like "Bear started to think, but before he could answer..." so that the Bear is involved and the reader can follow the conversation between the two characters πŸ™‚

                          @hannahmccaffery What about this?:

β€žOhhh, ohhh you know this one?β€œ

Flip dinβ€˜t wait for the bear to answer and started to tell its joke:
                          β€žWhy don't bears like fast food?β€œ

Berry started to think, but before he could answer...
                          β€žBecause they can't catch it!β€œ

@MichaelaH That's flows much better in my opinion πŸ™‚ You may want to lose the line "Flip didn't wait etc" and maybe have something like:

"Ohhh, ohhh do you know this one?" Flip asked "Why don't bears like fast food?"

Berry started to think, but before he could answer-
"Because they can't catch it!" Flip blurted out as he splashed around in a fit of giggles.

That's only an idea anyway, I'm not the best at writing so it's totally what you're happy with and what you think flows well πŸ™‚

Fab! Are you happy with it as that's the important thing? πŸ™‚ I think the text gives Flip more of personality now and I would love to see more of these characters πŸ˜ƒ
