How to ink group run through week 6
-
Today's painting feels a bit incomplete, I think mainly the silhouette of both the monster and the girl need a bit more work. I was just excited with painting it, and impatient with sketching phase. I am glad I got the idea down though, I can always re-paint it, using this as a reference.
-
@Aleksey Love it!
-
@xin-li wow! Thatβs cool.
-
@Braden-Hallett I feel like this, but each ball Iβm juggling has a different project name on it. I am trying to finish this 3 panel for a contest and I am thinking that I will postpone inktober. Still do the 31 days just start a few days late, because Iβm excited to do my inktober project, Iβm just running out of time. Iβm losing 5 days this week to go on a backpacking trip. Iβm going to be walking through gorgeous country but thinking about how much work I could be getting done.
-
@Aleksey This is amazing! Can you tell us more about your "making comics" class?
We're all juggling lots here--and the "how to decide weight of line" when it's doing the work of value, edges, shadow/light--definitely a juggle!

Textures!!! Round 1
I am really loving this section. It feels like things are finally starting to come together and all of the daily exercises are paying off! Thank you again @Braden-Hallett for putting this together. The two classes that I feel like I have learned the most from are the ones that you organized on the forum. It makes me realize how much I need structure, daily drawing, and assignments. I see the light at the end of the tunnel, BIG thanks
-
@Susan-Marks thanks! Yeah its a class at the school of visual arts in nyc. Its a continuing ed class. $400 for 3 months. 1 night a week. Basically we bring it a sketched page and an inked paged every week and have it critiqued.
-
@Erin-Cortese Great job! I like how you are able to get value ranges with your textures. Bravo!
Iβm struggling with that. -
@Erin-Cortese Beautiful job! That is so satisfying to look at.
-
@Aleksey This is great. It must have taken you forever to do all those scales
-
@Erin-Cortese Wow! These are SOOOO great!

3:30 am here and I woke up to draw it's turning into an addiction of sorts lol!
Damn I'm not THAT dedicated. I'm up at 5:00 am. Maybe I should push for 330 :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_cold_sweat:

my mind freezes trying to choose what sort of line to put down for each part of the illustration.
I feel your pain! I think this is one of those things where after enough practice (targeted practice) it just kinda... happens. And you won't notice until it's happened
-
@xin-li Damn that's beautiful! I let out an audible 'ooooooooh!' of appreciation when I opened up the thread this morning! I really think you're workin' on a winner style-wise here

You're most welcome I'm you're getting a lot out of these run-throughs! I get at least as much out of them as well.
Also, I am most jealous of your texture work
-
@demotlj oh no! the trick is you lay down a "road" for the scales to follow in pencil, then quickly go in and make some scales. Nice and loose. The best area for it I think is the eye the rest was just filler.

Here are my texture forms.

@chrisaakins haha mouse

@burvantill @TessaW Thank you! οΈ
