Here is my submission. Penny doesn't show much emotion so a smirk is quite the smile.
-
...or so she thought.

Wow, these are great! Thanks everyone who submitted! We're still trying to nail down a date for the next Critique Arena, but looks like it'll be sometime during the week of Nov 11-15...we'll keep you posted!
-
@Miriam Awesome! I was wondering if anyone would go this route. Looks great.

Greetings Everyone!
I know I'm a little late but I have been busy illustrating a book I can't wait to share with everyone.
Because I love a challenge, for this contest, I wanted to visually tell the story just with the cast shadows and a few clues. I hope you love it as much as I loved solving this puzzle!
Congrats to everyone on your original creative approaches and keep up the good work!
Stay well and creative.
Mr. Cat (on paper)

@CatOnPaper very neat to use the shadows for storytelling.
-
So happy you participated I still love your work. Inktober was my main focus so I did not get one in.
-
@jaepereira Oh cheers! Glad you love my approach. Keep up the good work yourself!
-
Thanks a lot @Heather-Boyd! I should have concentrated on the current book as well as finding my next client but I really wanted to have a chance to stay connected to this channel!
-
Hi everyone! I've been kind of lurking and I really love this community! I made a piece for this contest but was a little too late, but I'll post it here anyway
-
@Sarah-Hyman make a post, inside it youโll have many icon options, click the white arrow inside the black cloud. And then let it load up, if your screen is horizontal you will be able to see the upload at least on my iPad thatโs how it is not on the vertical. And tah dah! Post. Ensuring itโs not too big.
-
@Heather-Boyd Thank you! I feel like such an idiot, I was trying to upload it on my phone
-
@Sarah-Hyman Donโt feel bad. You have to scroll the bar of icons to the left on most phones in order to find the upload button, and many people donโt see that the bar scrolls. Itโs not very intuitive, so donโt worry at all!
-
@KathrynAdebayo aww thanks I'll know for next time.
-
@TessaW, Thank you!
Yes, I thought someone else would have the same idea, too. When I came to see what everyone else had done, and didn't see it (there are some similar ones, though)โI decided to go ahead with it, and try out a wash using ink pencils.
It's always great to see all the different styles and concepts produced for the same prompt.
