@todd-wilson Welcome here in forum. To Your great sketch, I liek it a lot. Only thing I see is the tail the boy is sitting on, If the tail is on its side, than the spikes should have different angle. Also it doesn't seem like the tail is from the big monster or is it? Also the small monster is almost on the same line like the stroke from the big monster (on the left, the horn is almost the tummy stroke of the big monster). The right middle monster, I think I would like to see one of his hands, mybe skretching his head? or only lines, taht he has hands down the body. I don't know if it will be not too stuffed with the fireplace than, maybe making it smaller or the canvas little bit bigger. Loooking forward to see the next stage.

@MichaelaH Great feedback! Thank you. I’m loving this forum so far. I totally agree with you about the tail. I hadn’t intended for the boy to be sitting on the tail but if it looks like that, then I need to fix that. I’ll post updates soon.

LOVE the "story" you are telling with your illustration! (I totally get it AND want to know more) I am with Heather about the tentacles and monster tail...I like how you used them to frame the pic and bring your eye to the the storyteller, but i don't know where/who they are connected to. I also like the expressions you created on their faces, its great! Can't wait to see more of your artwork....and a big "welcome" to the Forum!

Here is my update. I took some of the feedback from @Heather-Boyd about the tentacles being disconnected and tried making them more attached to a specific creature (thank you Heather). I also tried correcting some of what was going on with the boy sitting on the tail as @MichaelaH had pointed out, thank you.
Sorry it took me a while to post this update, my wife had our third baby last week so that kind of occupied my time a bit.

@todd-wilson having a baby is no excuse!!! 😂 Congrats on the baby, now you are out numbered. There is no going back.

I think the changes you made are great! I am really liking how the mood of the piece is coming together. Keep sharing your process!
