@jenithornhill thank you, I’ve been wondering about how I will handle the colours and I do want the sky/paint to be the focus so perhaps will add shadow and maybe a few very light neutral tints to the rest of it but have the sky/paint be bright and colourful.

Today's progress. Staring to get there I think. Still some colour to add, then shadows and highlights. Probably more texture. Comments very welcome - still time left to make changes.

Oh dear! After a much needed night of sleep I now see that the poor girls seem like they're zombies or something here

Here's a reworked attempt. I'm hoping to create a few pieces with these three / this story to put in my portfolio. Do you think the sketchiness here is too far away from the style of the main piece for people to think the images belong together? I can smooth it out but I kinda like it and might prefer to make the main piece more sketchy instead.

Oh man, I didn't realise there's been a time change in the US so just missed the crit arena!

I logged in just in time to see the winners (congrats!) and catch a glimpse that mine was one of the ones that almost made it to the top 16 - anyone remember what they said about it?
